I don't understand the vitriol for Munson at all.

While I have listened to Munson some, I've never paid close enough attention, and probably haven't listened to him enough for critiquing him to have even crossed my mind. My impression has always been that he did a good job and nothing ever jumped out at me so as to make the level of disgust and outrage here comprehensible. Is he really that terrible of an announcer? If so, I could understand disappointment, but based on the reaction here, you'd think he had done something truly terrible. I'll be interested to see come this fall, and maybe then I'll have a different, more informed opinion.
I did listen a lot to Pete and Will Merrit. As for Pete, I thought he did a good job, but his "orange in the end zone" was just turrble. As for Merrit, I don't know who ever told him he should be an announcer, but it proves the old adage "It's not what you know, it's who you know". Personally, I'm glad that a change is being made.

zone or Will. He seemed like a great guy, but sucked as a commentator.

Great ambassador for Clemson. I think people get jealous at the inroads he has made with Clemson athletics. He is living the dream of many a Clemson fan!

yearn for more of an old school type announcer like Phillips, Larry Munson(UGA) John Ward (Tenn). You youngsters need to Google them and listen to how they called a game or a TD. You have no idea how good they were.

I think this is a good move. YOu want to keep a close eye on the really creepy ones like Munson, so this serves many purposes.

Munson is...uhm, not beloved to a lot of people around Clemson. Kinda like a mid-level manager from a Mike Judge movie.
