Cooking tonight having some family over

Going sort of pan-Mediterranean for a nice warm outdoor dinner.
For an apertivo going to pop this really nice Franciacorta rosé I’ve been enjoying, and have some cheese and olives.
For starter courses going to make gambas al ajillo and whipped goat cheese w honey, and serve both with some grilled bread for the sopping. Going to pair with a Spanish garnacha blanca , should be great w the shrimp.
Main course going to grill some double cut lamb chops with cassoulet and a mint chimichurri, and doing a vertical of 2017, 2019, and 2021 L’Abbe Dine Chateauneuf du Pape.
I like to keep dessert simple and I’m not a baker, so will do some almond biscotti, vanilla ice cream, macerated fresh berries, and a drizzle of honey.

Sunday I plan to try out Julia Child’s Suprêmes de Volaille aux Champignons. I'm looking forward to trying something new.
Tonight I'm going to work some preserved lemons into pasta and top with grilled chicken and parmesan.

Sounds great, I love preserved lemons, love chopping them up rind and all and get this incredible lemon flavor into sauces & whatnot.

Food is wonderful like that, so many ways to be happy about whatever you’re eating. I’d be thrilled with Chas’s menu, or pizza and beer.

in that we will be eating dinner with family. Mine, however, will probably be take-out since Wife's family doesn't eat it unless it is fried or lunchmeat. There is a small chance I can cook spaghetti for them but I imagine that gets nixed.

at the house. Extended family was coming so it was BYOM and we provide the sides and we grill everything up (within reason) basically because cheap-as>s uncles aint getting away with bringing nothing and eating up all my food. One person brought pork steaks. I had never heard of a pork steak but I had to cook that too.
Medium Rare is how I like my steaks, but I did all the others medium well, except the pork steaks, I just cooked the shidd out of them.
Medium Well was too rare for almost every one of them. Those steaks went in the microwave to "finish cooking."
Thus ended Greenr cooking anything decent for Wife's family.

We're having friends over for dinner.

They have a 10k or whatever tomorrow morning at the vineyard down the road, so we are strategically located.
Last night I made baked ziti. Red sauce with sweet Italian sausage, ricotta, fresh basil, and roasted red peppers. Folded in pasta and poured into a baking dish. Stuffed some fresh mozzarella chunks throughout and laid a few thin slices on top. Showered down some parm from the microplane and into the oven it went until it was all bubbly. Lastly, I blasted it with the broiler to create some crispy bits. Will reheat nicely.
One of our guests doesn't do dairy or meat from land animals, so I'll grill a bit of a salmon on a cedar plank for this high maintenance individual. Wifey is making a fresh salad with olive oil and fig vinaigrette.
I'll probably get shitfaced.

Sounds bangin. I go nuts for cedar plank salmon, especially the belly bits of the fish that have a lot of fat and get real crispy, hotdiggitydamn

Ribeye steak with some McDonald's fries and a few eggs. Prolly half a tub of blue bell cookies and cream ice cream with a 1/2 dozen Krispy Kreme donuts. Probably be 5000-6000 calories. Gotta get those leptin levels up after a 15 week cut.
Oh, and a a tube of cookie dough.
