On weekends the kids and I will go dumpster diving behind grocery stores and look for discarded food that’s still mostly edible. I’ve gotten to know the asst managers at two Kroger’s and an Aldi and we have an agreement where if I make it quick, don’t talk to customers, and never enter the store, they don’t call the cops. It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.
Anyways, last week we found half of a Boar’s Head Olive loaf that was only two days expired, and a gallon of whole milk that was still about 3 degrees colder than the outside temperature—it hadn’t been in there long.
This is a lot of fun, and our next project is trying to find local high traffic outdoor ash trays to search for half smoked cigarette butts.

but go to Bargain Foods and Deals Galore stores in Pelzer/Williamston
it's like an easter egg hunt trying to find quality items in a sea of crap
it's fun but I normally go during the week and not with any kids

Take videos of the dumpster dive, post videos to TikTok, start referring to yourself as both an influencer and a digital content creator, and then sail around the world on your yacht filming dumpsters all over the globe with your newfound wealth!!!

I talk to the manager and say I go around to grocery stores and collect their out-of-date food to distribute to poor people. I say if they'll collect it all in shopping carts, I'll come pick it up at a time convenient to them. That way, they don't have to fool around dumping it in a smelly old dumpster.
I've got 3 stores I do this with, and it works great. It's not just who you know, it's what you know AND who you know. I pick out what I want to keep, and throw the rest away. Tried giving the stuff I didn't want to the poors, but it was too much hassle.
