Stoops just fired off on SEC and the bias it gets...

He was on Cowherd, it was awesome. He defended everything he said this past summer. He sounds as if he is tired of hearing how the whole conference is better than every team in another conference. Dude came with stats and even pointed out that Mizzou and TAMU were part of Big12 for 100 years and they seem to be doing just fine in the mighty SEC, in fact better than they did in Big 12.
It was awesome.

intervention to make it the playing field more level and get rid of the ESPN and lou propaganda. Even the new playoff system sucks and gives a slight edge advantage to the strength of the schedule and hence conference. Other than going to 16 teams playoff system. As an avid fan of the game, this really takes the fun out of it because we really just don't know who is truely the best team. Point and case, the game last night. If BAMA did beat Auburn, we would never knew how good is OK is...

Could do than force ESPN to stop talking about the SEC so much. I mean, what do we even have a government for if they won't take care of this?

the "government" (in quotes because they don't govern very well or do their job or the peoples will) has already ruined just about EVERYTHING they touch regarded our wonderful country! they're already, in your phone, computer, pockets & bank accounts, taxing the shiat out of us to pad their own pockets & their buddies, ruining peoples healthcare plans & canceling them or severely increasing the cost of them, trying to control the population & turn us all into equal-sheople, & take away our inalienable rights to happiness & even our rights to own guns & protect ourselves!!!
and you WANT to give them college football TOO!? no better way to screw up the game we love, even if it ain't perfect...it's better than anything they'd do to "improve" it GUARANTEED!!!
NO WAY pal! WAAAAAY WRONG!!! take our footballs from our cold dead hands if you ask me!
oh yeah...IMPEACH Obama!!!...our so called leader & uniter

has been pumping a certain conference as the be all end all since they signed the first big contract in 2008. These recruits have grown up with that 24/7.
Number 10 beat number 3 last night. A 4 team playoff based on rankings is not the answer. An improvement just not the answer.
Also shows why Slive is always running from any playoff system not based on rankings.Wants the media and the COMMITTEE to set up the playoff and not look at conference champions in their selection.

It is simple. The SEC plays the Big Ten every year in Bowl

Games.
The Big Ten makes the SEC teams look like they are incredible fast and athletic.
The SEC picks up 6 easy bowl wins vs the Big Ten every year (on NYD no less).
This helps the whole SEC in per-season rankings. Next season, the SEC will once again look like a bunch of ranked teams "beating up on each other".

If the ACC had won the last 7 national championships and Miami, FSU, VT, Clemson,BC and UNC were winning and ranked constantly you don't think there would be an ACC bias...and with reason. If that shoe was on any other foot it would still be an amazing thing. No matter which conference pulled it off they would be considered the kings of college football. There would be an ACC Network and all the news would be there because everyone watches a winner. Facts....

The way things are now though, this whole thing becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. ESPN hypes the SEC 24/7 and pumps extra millions of dollars to the schools in the SEC, eventually there is no way anyone else can compete regularly with them because the media network that has a monopoly on sports only promotes one conference, and only gives big payouts to one conference.
I wish FOX would step into the sports arena in a big way. Right now ESPN has far, far too much control of college football.

Several people have brought up RANKINGS as

a method to decide. Besides the OBVIOUS SEC bias, look no further than Louisville and UCF. 11-1 records before the bowls, yet they were not even close to the top 10. And of the 2 loss teams, only Stanford was top 5 - of the teams NOT in the SEC. I know you cannot always go by who has one or two losses to say who is better than who.
A 4 team playoff will not prove who is the best. Maybe 8, but 16 teams would/should get a better picture, especially if the # of teams from one conference were limited, else ESPN and the media will have most of the 16 slots taken by the SEC.

I agree...16 teams should be the number or 8 at the very least. This 4 deal is still going to cause controversy.

# 3 got mauled by #10 last night

A playoff system based purely on rankings is a joke. After last night ,we know why Slive doesn't want any part of any playoff that doesn't go off rankings. Bama has been propped up all year by ESPN rankings, last night # 10 showed them the door.

The question is, Tigerbum, did the blowhard Cowherd
Jan 3, 2014, 2:32 PM
|
|
play kiss #### with Stoops or did he actually debate him on that since Cowherd is pretty much a dude that thinks the SEC should be in the NFL, and if he didn't try to get that point across, then I'm going to assume Cowherd played kiss ####.
