Last year I did not second guess I first guessed as Lee Corso used to say.
This season, I think we might be better. Ship appears to be mostly righted. Still think it might be one more year in the wilderness until we return to CFP-level.

I'm apprehensive AF. I'm cynical until proven wrong.
I have heard some nice things from coaches...."finding areas we stopped throwing to"..."using TEs more"..."trimming the playbook"...offensively those are promising.
But we got who we got slinging the rock. It's on him to prove us doubters wrong based on his body of work last year. I'm hopeful he can find it, and I still believe he's got it....just ain't gonna bet on it.

My guess is DJT actually is somewhat improved, as is the OL.
We still have questions at WR (biggest concern outside of QB) and CK is NOT TLaw. Don't expect him to come in and just take over the way TLaw did. He's good. He's not G-d.
We will see how offensive play calling goes.
Defense should be fine, assuming Pork Chop is 75% as good as BV was game-to-game.

coach speak, so who knows, but the one statement that most influences me is when Dabo said about the first scrimmage (paraphrase): "The offense won the day today. The defense has been reading how good they are, and today they saw they have to go do it."
I don't see anything there that says the O is better. DJ is DJ, and 6 totally lost receivers are what they are until they do otherwise. Dabo is right that D is about 'want to', and Venables was all about that. The walking white board boy genius doesn't seem to be that kind of motivator.
I hope I am as wrong about that as I was about last year.

OC. He has been saying all the right things. However, reading between the lines it sounds like DJ still can't hit the broad side of a barn.
Defense SHOULD be elite but BV is a big loss.
