I would've liked to keep Middlebrooks, but getting a long, athletic player who can play several positions was an important need for us to address this offseason.

For a bunch of years, thee have been complaints (with some legitimacy) about the lack of Clemson’s backcourt size. A proven 6-8 guard with ACC experience? Fantastic. Don’t like the idea of calling it a “trade,” but if it were one, Clemson got the better of it.

That is awesome. I saw on the Portal website several days ago that Middlebrooks was going to NC State, we will miss him. Clark is a player with good potential that we need.

It’s common now.
For instance,
Braden Galloway started at Charleston, then switched to BC before coming home.
Nick Honor started at Fordham, came to us and moved on again.
Some are burning the extra Covid year, while others are taking the one free transfer and adding a grad transfer at the end. And some are doing both.
