Bessent now says China is withholding exports that are critical to our

supply chain.
We FA and now we're FO.

King Trump sez we can do it all by ourselves. We don't need Canadian cars or wood. We don't need China's rare Earth minerals. So what's the issue? You screw a trading partner, start a trade war, you will figure out the consequences.
Almost all trade wars are won by the country with the labor surplus, not the country with the money surplus. Just facts.

He left out a very important point from HDs earnings call

yes they did say they were gonna TRY to hold prices flat and manage the additional PO costs from tariffs. They also said that there were product lines where they can’t manage the cost without passing significant price increase on to their customers and in those case they would simply STOP SELLING THOSE PRODUCTS. That’s how retail works you don’t set prices based on what it cost you to source the product, you set prices based on what the consumer is willing to pay for the product. HD doesn’t believe their customers can afford to pay more for some products, and they can’t make the desired margin on em without raising prices; so, they’re just gonna stops selling them. Bessent didn’t brag about that.

We absolutely cannot do it without Canada's timber, oil, and iron. We cannot do it without Mexico's labor. We cannot do it without Australia's mining - they have a great big enormous desert in the middle of their country they can strip-mine at will; we do not. We can't do it without technological inputs from Japan, South Korea...and Taiwan. Without TSMC the tech industry crashes tomorrow. And since even Mexico doesn't have the labor we'd need to replace China, we need another partner - and Vietnam has become that partner of choice. Company after company is decamping from China, and setting up shop in Vietnam.
Truthfully we need those nations a heckuva lot more than we need Europe...for anything, really. Dutch giant ASML makes the lithography machines we need to etch sub-10nm chips, the kind all our AI and high-end tech like iPhones are based on. Zeiss makes the precision optics. And Trumpf - nothing to do with Donald - makes the precision lasers that do the etching. None of those are replaceable, the rest of Europe has some important companies but nothing we can't do in-house or with our basket of North American and Pacific Rim allies.
So whether we like it or not, those nations - Canada, Mexico, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam - are family. Our economies are intertwined in a way that none of us can decouple without causing systemic collapse in almost every major industry.
The modern tech stack is infinitely more complex than it was in the 1950's that MAGA so dearly wants to get back to. You can't maintain it without a heckuva lot more labor, manufacturing, and raw materials than any of us possess on our own. And Donald is trying to fight a trade war with almost all of them.

All that should be common sense, but isn't for MAGA.

Its not surprising watching the board trash openly root for our enemies, and that's exactly what China is, our enemy. They may also be a "trading partner" but that's only as long as they are able to bend us over on trade deals while enriching themselves in order to build a military they hope to someday use to destroy us. And their rare earth minerals aren't actually rare at all. They are just practically impossible to extract in the US due to the same left wing kooks, and their environmental BS, who appear to rejoice at their friends in China now withholding them from us. Don't ever change scumbags.

our own minerals when Republicans control everything? You are in total control, make it happen, and if you don’t, blame MAGA.

This admin caved. Shoulda brought these cheenks down here in the mud and let's see who comes out.
Nope. Fire up the printers, we can grow ourselves out.
No one has the sack. We deserve everything we get. There's no way out. Globalism and infinite fiat printing has won.
F every boomer POS that put us in this spot.
