Origins of Gee Haw'd

Can someone explain the backstory to me? How would you pronounce it? ghee or jee?

I'm obviously new to the forum, wasn't even born in '98 haha. RevDodd seems to really hype you old heads up and bring different energy back to this forum, but I love it.

Also, praying for RevDodd to have many more healthy years ahead of him.

I’ll let someone else explain the reference connected to the good Reverend. But gee and haw are commands to a mule that is pulling a plow or wagon. Gee means turn right, and haw means turn left.

and in his post said the woman at Wake's athletic department didn't know what to tell him when he asked where the lot to park our tractors was. My response suggested it should be Gee Hawd because I was so old we didn't have tractors. He adopted that as the term to use.

Given my age, that's not surprising. I asked them if there was a special lot for the tractors, since we didn't want our harrows to mess up the asphalt at the Joel. Took her a while to figure things out.

Good thing I didn't ask her about accommodations for the snake.
