I'll be honest: I want Clemson in the SEC. That's not going to happen.
So, after that, I would like the ACC to stay intact-- with FSU and Clemson. It makes way more sense than going to the Big 12.
However, if it looks like the ACC is going to crumble and FSU, UNC, Va Tech, etc. look elsewhere, then I hope Clemson is proactive and gets out to a more stable situaton.
The last thing I want is to be stuck in an 8-team ACC without Va Tech, UNC, FSU, and whoever else. That would be really, really bad.

Reluctantly for. Bear Bryant said it best: "A chemistry experiment won't bring in 80,000 people." As much as I like the academic tradition of the ACC, the reality is it's no longer viable from a $$$/BCS standpoint if we want to think about a football NC.

As a long time member of IPTAY, and graduate of CU it is hard for me to see how it would make a run at another National Championship easier. If money could buy a NC, then ND should be winning it every year. We should not be making our opinions based on esecpn's opinion of the ACC. We need to take care of business on the field and everything else will work out. If the move is made, don't look for another NC or even conference championship in your lifetime.

What you are failing to realize is that our ability to recruit is largely driven by our TV contract and that the chances for championships hinges greatly on whether or not we are going to be in one of the four superconfernces. If the ACC is left in the dust it will be the equivilant of trying to win the SoCon championship.

-If it really is all about TV markets, there is NO conference with more eyes to watch the product than the ACC.
-Based on the above, there is ZERO way a conference with Va Tech, Miami, FSU, Clemson, and ALL the east coast gets left out
-Again based on the above, had Miami, FSU, Clemson, among others not had subpar decades, the ACC would have again been the MOST LUCRATIVE conference.
-Miami was down in the '90s and supposedly finished...they will be back.
-Money may be different NOW, but with $20mm buyout, it can't be much.
-Where does Clemson get the Buyout money?
-Nebraska...one of the Top 5 College Football programs OF ALL TIME left after 70 years of being a part of this group because of Texas. Let THAT one sink in. NEBRASKA.
-Once one steps away from the ledge, you see that the ACC may not be the most football oriented, but it's jsut as much football oriented as the Big 12...
-How long does one really think a 4 team playoff lasts before its an 8 team one?
-If money is indeed the reason and differentiator among teams, please explain University of Texas the last few years and Boise State? TCU pre big 12 invite? Miami during their Independent and Big East days? Notre Dame currently down?

finally, a man with some sense. the acc's powers (FSU, miami) may currently be down, but when they are back to join clemson and va tech, the conference will be relevant again. add in notre dame, and heck, they might still suck for awhile, but people will be watching. GO TIGERS!

-NEBRASKA left the conference they helped found! Nebraska has WAYYYYY more tradition of football success than FSU has ever dreamed of. Nebraska left because of Texas.

Just in the last five years, Kansas has a combined record of 30-32 compared to Duke's record of 16-44
Wake has a combined record of 28-32 compared ot Baylor's record of 28-34
UVA has a combined reocrd of 29-33 compared to Texas Tech's record of 42-22
NC State has a combined record of 33-30 compared to OSU's record of 48-17
UNC has a combined record of 35-29 compared to WVU's record of 48-17.
Clemson was 41-26 over that same period.

Like most folks are thinking. My comparisons are based on 10-20 or so years...
figure 10 years and Wake gets to take advantage of the 2006 season as Baylor gets to take advantage of this past RG3 season
UVA would get some of the early 2000's years...Texas Tech is actually a pretty close comparison, but yields to UVA.
OSU has a LOOOOONG history of a couple of winning years followed by crap (look at the ten years post Barry Sanders). Gundy looks to be pretty doggone good...but we will see what happens this year with Blackmon and QB gone. NC State going back to the earlier 2000's would have the big seasons of Philip Rivers.
WVa has been a consistent performer, but UNC does best them when looking back at 10 years plus.
Again, kudos for not looking at last year like so many, but I differ based on a longer snapshot.

and texas at 858-333-34 ,oklahoma at 819-310-53 are more wins than 'bama and tenn,the 2 winningest programs in the sec.i kind of like going to games against teams like that,how 'bout y'all. to see that there would be big time football coming to the valley as regularly scheduled games is priceless.

When was the last time UNC, UVA, NC State, Wake, Duke, Maryland were consistently nationally relevant?
We've got to take a step up if Clemson is going to compete consistently at the top.

who cares what the rest of the conference did or didn't do. If Clemson were playing at the level we were playing in the 80's, nobody would be leaving the ACC out of the equation. The only reason the ACC is getting left out, is because we are all sucking at this point.
