Good Guy vs. "The Heel" Are Being Made Into "the later"?
Nov 2, 2022, 8:15 PM

In case you aren't familiar with this pro wrestling term; it's the "bad guy"!
Are they making Clemson out to be the bad guy or the heel now?
If so, everybody loves a good heel!!!!!
And eventually, people love them! In today's world, the bad guy is the good guy and . . . . anyway - this is for the older folks who probably recall the old: Mid-Atlantic Wrestling!
Note: no - I do not still watch it. Hard to watch now!
Shout out to anyone who remembers: Ricky Steamboat, Paul Jones, Wahoo McDaniels, Rufus R. Freight-Train Jones, Ivan Kolof, The Boogie Woogie Man - Jimmy Valiant, Tony Atlas, Black Jack Mulligan, etc.
A memory lane post, LOL!

https://prowrestling.fandom.com/wiki/Heel Heel In wrestling, a heel is a villain character. Heels are portrayed as behaving in an immoral manner, breaking rules or otherwise taking advantage of their opponents outside of the bounds of the rules of the match. In non-wrestling jargon, heels are often the "bad guys" in pro wrestling storylines. They are typically opposed by a face (crowd favorite). Some tweeners exhibit heel mannerisms. The term "heel" is most likely is derived from a slang usage of the word that first appeared around 1914, mea

Miss the old Mid Atlantic. Couldn’t wait to hear the opening drum beats of Iron Man (until they started cracking down on usage). Knew my favorite tag team was on the way for a 15 second beat down of the Mulkies (Mulkie Mania Baby!). Mr Wrestling, Briscoe brothers, Ole and Gene. Ah good memories of Saturday morning/noontimes.

The Bia$ed Media knows who we are and they know what we're all about. They know that our core is about family..... our unique prideful traditions....our infectious underdog comradery....and there are those who paint their faces orange and white.
Its redundant to try to make Clemson out to be the heel or bad guy..... like they tried to do with Sting back in the day in wrestling. All it did was make him even more of the hero and fan favorite than he already was. If Clemson keeps defying the odds with the humbled fighting heart that we have..... absorbing the energy from our family base and fan base..... Clemson will no doubt be the hero of college football.

Most are before my time as I don’t recall the names. Johnny Weaver and Stan Hanson were still around. I’ll date myself and say Harley Race was champ but near the end when I started watching.

That's a name from the past!
Harley Race - wow! I only vaguely remember him, but I do recall the name and I think the image of a curly-haired dude.
You remember Black Jack Mulligan?

I only know Johnny Weaver as an announcer.
My first exposure to rasslin' was when the Four Horsemen were Ric, Tully, Arn & Ole with JJ Dillon managing them. Dusty, Magnum, Ivan, Nikita, Rock & Roll Express, Midnight Express, Road Warriors, Boogie Woogie Man, Gorgeous Jimmy Garvin, Ron Garvin, Paul Jones' gang of misfits (Barbarian, Baron Von Raschke, Kabuki might have been with them). Manny Fernandez (The Ragin' Bull) was never the biggest or best, but I liked him--I could've been his son as much as I resemble him. He lived in a humble little house in Shelby, N.C., just a few miles from me.
Funny how Clemson has gone from the lovable underdog to a potential heel. I still see Alabama as the major heel, with Ohio State the next heel down.
