To railroad Mike Morgan out of town! He was a superb play by play caller of their baseball and basketball, and he should have been given football and the Voice of the Gamecocks status with Ellis and Suggs as his color guys. But Ellis was too selfish to realize his own inadequacies as a play by play man to allow that, and he had him kicked off the radio.
Sad. But fairly typical of Gamecock happenings.

You may be right, but I can proudly say that I have no idea who these guys are or what happened. I know Ellis bc Clemson played him. I'm curious, why do you listen to USuCk sports?

I think it worked out better for Morgan - anything is better than announcing usc games. I think Mike does a lot of syndicated Braves reports and picks up TV announcing for a lot of the non-power 5 football and basketball games.

Mike Morgan is actually a decent announcer. Stuff happens and he has moved on. GC nation now is stuck with a Sorry play by play voice as a result.

that got his death knell rung. It is true that toad elks was handpicked to be the play by play caller and Morgan never got an opportunity to even be considered, but toad wanted the job and the administration wanted him to have the job; it was truly we can have toad elks, a coot legend or mike morgan, a legend in his own mind... that's a no-brainer for people with no brains, so voila!!

Mike was a good guy. He had a really good Sports Talk show in Columbia back in the day. He's an Auburn guy. He's probably better off not being associated with the cesspool of chicken football.

I prefer us playing an early game. That gives TE and TS time to get liquored-up.I go to bed, turn on the GAMECOCK NETWORK and listen to Ellis sounding like a Bowery Bum that got his nuts caught in a grinding wheel...The downside is that it is too funny to even THINK about sleeping...

I would pay someone to just kill that chicken that crows 100 times a game. The Fab Four announcers were The Great Jim Philips, Bob Fulton, Larry Munson and Eli Gold.
