Used to be a fun little site paying homage to the current belt holder. But that is a thing of the past and has been picked up by a new site. Essentially the champion from the preceding year holds it until they are beaten and then that winning team assumes the belt. Often the belt holder at the end of the year is also the CFP champion (Clemson held both) but not always. It has changed hands a few times since LSU grabbed it from us and now sits in the Pacific Northwest as of this moment.
