From a Florida fan on SEC Rant

Jul 31, 2019, 4:47 PM

Had an interesting convo today with someone involved in recruiting

Not going into to much detail about who he was but someone who's been in it for awhile. Interesting tid-bits from the conversation. Spent over an hour talking with him and it was really fun. So here is some things he said or mentioned when I asked questions.

1. Alabama doesn't cheat anymore(they did the first few years). Despite what people believe, they don't need to. Bama hasn't paid a player in years. Clemson does not either. They have enough proof of success that there is no need to offer money anymore and take a risk of being caught.

2. Not many teams actually pay. Most AD's are terrified of being caught and are very strict. So despite the claims "everyone pays", they don't according to him. Said it was really bad from 08-13 but has settled down greatly.

3. Two teams in the SEC are well known to be offering "benefits." One is obvious, one is somewhat obvious based on how he recruited at his other school. I'll let you guess which two they are. Title droughts are a good hint.

4. Said LSU is clean. I asked directly and he said Ed isn't that kind of guy. Auburn as far as he knows has been as well.

5. They suspect one team in the SEC has started too give extra "benefits", but no one has directly told them(players looking for counter offers). Newer coach, from the same system as another "benefit giving" head coach. Thinks it may be short term if it is happening to just get a more stable roster with talent that has been lacking at the program.

6. I asked if Florida could beat Georgia, CLemson, Bama with current talent level. Said the first yes, they believe they have an edge coaching wise but injuries would worry him greatly because their depth is better. I asked about the other two and he pretty much point blank said very little chance. Said their coaching is top notch, and they out talent everyone. You have to play perfect to beat them and everyone in CFB knows it. Coach speak they won't say it but not a person in CFB goes into a game with either confident.

Also: I mentioned the Rant and he immediately laughed. Yes, we are well known. Especially by the players. Asked if there are fake accounts from players and he didn't know.

Was pretty fun. I'm sure this gets 100 down votes because no proof, didn't happen. Couldn't not share it though either way, so take from it what you want, was really interesting stuff.

"Auburn as far as he knows"

Auburn is the dirtiest program in America.

There's something in these hills.

The AU fans I worked with indicated their bagmen had bigger bags than other teams. That was when Montravius Adams and Carl Lawson chose AU over CLEMSON.

The AU fans I check with each year have had it hard the past few years as their preseason forecast comes up short. They do like it when CLEMSON beats up on Bama.

Auburn is the dirtiest program in America.

They almost certainly were, when super-booster Colonial Bancgroup CEO Bobby Lowder ran that school with an iron fist. The problem seems to be Colonial went under after the housing market crash and Auburn jettisoned him, unceremoniously. After Lowder left the scene I heard from a few places they bought Mont Adams and Carl Lawson out from under us but after that I haven't heard the old rumors much.

Beat the crap out of UofSC at Columbia and we will forget that we even had this conversation.

Good information!

Someone would have to have hard video and audio evidence before I would ever begin to believe that Dabo would cheat, nor would he allow any of his assistance to cheat with him knowing about it!!!!

So Cam Newton turned down 6 figures from Ms State and accepted a free ride to Auburn instead? New Raptors on signing day and players tweeting that the money was too good to turn down is why they committed? (RB last year that committed to UGA then decommitted for LSU)... A&M doesn't pay players but former players admitted they were forced to offer exchanges to recruits and OU even pointed out the obvious payments to the NCAA.

They're not getting in trouble because they bring the NCAA too much money and that's the reason they will continue to get away with it (Duke, UK, Kansas and UNC for example in basketball)

Very telling how the UGA fans came out of the woodwork...

on the thread.

Even though it's from a Gator, the UGA fans get really nervous about this stuff.

I can believe certain programs don't have to. Like a successful H.S. team players tend to gravitate there because they feel it gives them a better shot at a scholarship. I think he's wrong on Auburn.
