I have done some analysis and to sum up:
Dabo is 100% correct, 98.5% of Tiger fans are indeed amazing.... I see them everyday here on TNET giving useful knowledge to others for nothing more than mere praise and thumbs upward facing
The other 1.5%'ers are busy figuring out ways to say "goodbye" to TNET, unsuccessfully many times!

Pretty dumb statement brother. Anyone who rocks the paw through thick and thin while bleeding orange 24/7 365 is Tiger FAITHFUL. Clemson has always been a fan base that welcomes anyone to the Valley that wants to support the best school in the world. One of my best friends is from Scotland and loves the Tigers since I've introduced him to our culture. The "1.5" is certainly entitled alumni that are fairweather sports fans, prob ones that didn't experience the yrs between Danny & Dabo either. Go Tigers!!!!!

Agreed. I've been a fan since the 70's (admittedly Tree Rollins was the draw since I was 8) but we went to Chanellos on the way to Keowee and my fandom has never faltered, even though I went to the College of Charleston instead of Clemson. It's unfortunate that social media is so easy for haters.

I too have been a fan since the early 70’s and have the good and bad (3-8, 4-7 records when I was a student) but I continue to support them. By the way Tree Rollins was in one of my classes at Clemson and that dude was so tall.

I didn't graduate from Clemson, but since attending I have chosen to live in Clemson or the surrounding area (within 15 minutes) for 27 of the last 36 years. Greenville isn't far, but it is a lot farther from God's country than I want to live. Maybe, those of us that drive to Greenville to work rather than from Greenville for the games are not real fans, but you could have fooled me.

Less is more. IMO, Dabo doesn't mean much by these off-the-cuff remarks. Alot of what he says to the press is directed at his players. And although more change is coming (NIL, way we use portal, etc...) you are never going to hear Dabo mention it to the press or say they have had to adapt from previous stances. Ppl just got to accept that....
But as BV has said, less is more. Calling out your fanbase, or any portion thereof, is a very, very slippery slope....just avoid it and speak about the next game. Not how many plays away we are from being undefeated, not about potential NCs.....just about the next game, b/c what was said in the past is 1000% correct...its the most important game. IMO, its an unforced error that is unnecessary. There is an art to say things in a way that avoids these pitfalls.

I agree with your post. There have been times that Dabo has reacted negatively to criticism from the fan base when the criticism has been justified. Last season, we the diehards were complaining, we received the verbal scolding from Dabo then BAM, he fires Streeter at the end of the season. I wish at times he would just not say anything at all.

This article and the one about the bandwagon are the strangest responses I’ve ever heard from Dabo. He’s probably caught wind of some dissent and instinctively defends his players and program and rightfully so. That being said, Dabo don’t be mad at the fan base because of high expectations. Even the polls don’t like what they see.

To me they are not unusual for Dabo. He can get pretty defensive. I'm just amazed that he didn't think of a better response to what he knew would be asked after the bandwagon statement. He needs to remember, "if you can't say something nice, then say nothing at all," at least to the media.

I think with alot of fans or the so-called 1.5%, they think about the Dabo sayings of "Best is the Standard" and "The best is yet to come" and then see that not being the case or taking steps backwards and it becomes very frustrating. Fans are obviously going to say and speak more emotionally than coaches ever will, that's just the nature of it. Sometimes we see things in games and get aggravated when coaches don't do something about it or say what we all know is obvious, it just is what it is. Once you reach the mountain top and the pinnacle.....anything less just feels bad. Price of being a champion, its not a video game, we can't do it every single year.

The so-called 1.5% have an undeserved sense of entitlement. I always laugh when they complain about how much Dabo is paid; that he doesn’t deserve the money when Clemson doesn’t reach CFP.
These same loudmouth, entitled fans don’t give squat to IPTAY. In other words, they howl about the lack of return on investment that they are getting from Dabo … but since they have next to no investment, they should just shut up.

He tells the players that they should focus only on the things that they can control, and that they should ignore the outside noise. But then Dabo wastes time (and good will) by focusing on the outside noise by whining about disappointed fans-- which is something he can't control, except by winning.
This whining is beneath the job. It's arrogant to insult fans who expressing disappointment or disagreement with his decisions, as if he's infallible. The whining makes him look thin-skinned. He should rise above it and focus on COACHING.

It comes across as thin-skinned and arrogant.

Exactly. Some people cannot be happy with major success over an extended period... those people want and expect success 100% of the time. I could understand if your team only won about 55-60% of their games, and they only made it to the post season about 25% of the time.
Personally I never thought we would ever get to see the string of success we've had in football over the last 12-13 years or so. I'm ok with a disappointing season once in a while, and as long as Dabo is coach those disappointing seasons are few and far in between.

Caldwell magically "retired"
Elliot went to UVA
DJU transferred out.
Streeter got fired.
Dabo overwhelmingly "publicly" supported those mentioned above while consistently badgering fans for their lack of belief/faith in HIS decisions.
Now that all of those folks are gone, and the O is even worse, the fingers are pointing at Swinney. He calls out the fans (royally stupid idea) that don't slop up every thing he says.
Said it before - I'll say it again; he's got ONE more season of this mediocre dog and pony show before alumni start stepping on the AD's balls, or Dabo's.
Money talks. Not these old-a s s fans that stand by bad decision after bad decision.
