That seems to confuse a lot of people. They only remember the date of the games - not the season the championship applies to.

The dates are correct. Yes, we were the 2016 champs, but we won the 2017 CFP. This cover is talking about the 2018 CFP, not the season to which it applies.

Took words outta my mouth. And bc it's a playoff thing we made the 16 and 17 playoffs but like said won 18 cft bc the championship game is in th next year but first round of playoffs is 31st last day of year lol. But anyways shouldn't we be in front and I don't really like the tiger legs, can't tell if he's wearing no pants of tiger stripe pants haha

I am sure that they used the number zero so as not to feature a particular player on the CLEMSON roster... although T Thompson would have liked that! Zero is a number not permitted by the NCAA football rules thus the reason!

and it would have been representative of the CFP cover in general. And also because the Tigers are the defending national champions. Seems almost a little biased and a little strange that they didn't and that the Tiger is kind of in the background. Excellent looking Tiger though.
