Early Mock Draft

Dec 5, 2014, 12:17 PM

17. Baltimore Ravens — Clemson OLB-DE Vic Beasley

A classic Ravens pick. Their scouting department believes that sacks translate from the college level to the NFL game, and Beasley has been the Tigers’ best-ever pass-rush artist despite a long line of defensive talent. Beasley is undersized and will need to be schemed a bit to make an impact. But he’ll have two great models to learn from in Elvis Dumervil and Terrell Suggs, and likely will be viewed as a value pick in a few years.

Side Note- FHRITP going #2 to TB. Good fit for both

My favorite part about the #2 pick

But his talent, playmaking ability, competitiveness and football IQ are all traits of a rare, once-a-generation prospect.

Let's compare these assets in Winston to Deshaun Watson:

1. Talent - is there a question? Deshaun Watson is a genetic freak. He's more athletic than Winston and throws just as pretty of a ball

2. Playmaking Ability - I think Watson is just as good if not better, but we haven't really seen a large enough sample size to tell, so I'll give a slight edge to Winston

3. Competitiveness - One of the two convinced his coach to let him start in a rivalry game with a torn ACL to ensure that his rival's winning streak was not extended to 6. One of these did not. Do I need to say anymore?

4. Football IQ - Winston's elite football IQ really showed itself when he threw 3 TD in the first quarter against Florida...oh wait no that's right, he threw 3 picks, not TDs. Oh well you know that was an off game. He REALLY showed his elite football IQ with those 3 TDs in the first half against Louisville...wait sorry I was wrong AGAIN, that was also 3 picks. Dang, well I mean at least he's top 5 in TDs thrown...oh wait no sorry I was looking at interceptions thrown leaders. Dang where is this elite football IQ? You'd think something with such an elite football IQ would know he's not supposed to throw the ball to the other team.

To Eric Eldman, the dumbazz who wrote this,

Deshaun Watson is an example of a once-a-generation prospect. Jameis Winston is an example of a complete idiot who was surrounded by so much elite talent last season that people began to believe he was better than he really is. As such he has gotten a pass for his excessively poor play this year.

Beasley will not last that long - Texans need a DE
