Is there any credence to the idea that if we keep the current playoff system long enough it will iron itself out? What I mean is if schools in the power four get tired of never making the playoff even when they are better than the champs of the Mountain West or one of the "lesser" conferences would those lesser conferences start to do better with money and or recruting and therby be much more competetive?
My craziest opinion is to put all of the NCAA FBS conference champs in the playoff and if some of the SEC schools get bent out of shape tell them to join a different conference if it matters so much to them. Choose the money or choose the playoff's. It's that simple. Let this play out for 5-6 seasons and see what happens. Seed the remaining 2 with the two highest finishing teams that were not conference champs (which might include an independent).
Yep, its nuts, naive...or maybe just cold hearted forcing the situation to change with conferences.
