Most successful Tigers in the NFL?
Oct 24, 2017, 8:16 AM

Reading the recent news about Spiller and Leggett got me thinking about Clemson players in the NFL. What's your top 10 or so? Particularly interested in the "old-timers" (like me) input on guys from the 70s & 80s. It's too early for me to think that much and I'm at work and being paid to think about other things, so I'll let y'all do the thinking for me!

Brian Dawkins, William Perry, Dwight Clark, Charlie Waters, Terry Allen, Joe Bostic and Jerry Butler top my list.

Donnell Woolford had a decent career from that era, So did Wayne Simmons, Ed McDaniel, and Chester McGlockton and Brenston Buckner from the DL. That late 80's early 90s defense was insanely good
But I agree, B Dawkins is still the best
DW4 and Nuk going forward

Beasley as well going forward. I wouldn't be surprised if DW, Nuk, and Vic are all HOFers when everything is said and done.

Amazing that so many are forgetting about Michael Dean Perry. The Fridge got a lot of attention for being on the Super Bowl Bears team and punching in a TD, but Michael Dean was a 6-time Pro Bowler and 2 time 1st team all-pro. His pro career completely eclipsed William's as far as success.
And Levon Kirkland. Jeez. He was a freak. In the 80's when I was playing FB he was my idol.

Have to be honest ... "Fridge" was not successful in NFL

He got some of the greatest publicity, but it was for things un-related to his job as a defensive tackle.
Loved "Fridge" as a Clemson Tiger, but for the little bit that the Bears got out of him, I think Buddy Ryan's rather blunt and perhaps harsh assessment was close to accurate when he said "wasted draft choice" ...

The 49ers made a huge deal about honoring Dwight Clark and "the catch" against the cowboys last Sunday. Really cool to see!!

Somehow deleted/omitted Joe Bostic from my Top 25 - he should've been in about 6th or 7th place.
