I don't get it. 14 or less points against our starting defense I'm the last 5 games. That's top notch to me. I don't get the hate.

like what most on TNet think a football coach should look like. That what it seems to me. We don't have quite as good of players now on defense as we did with BV and we are still playing well.

Agree with your assessment plus he was an internal hire and some of our posters have a problem with internal hires.

We have as much talent on defense now based on recruiting star power as we ever did with BV. Almost everyone who plays was either a four or five star coming out of HS. So if they are not performing as well it's because of coaching, not talent.

Star rating are not always accurate, as we have learned from DJ, Mike Bellamy, Joseph Ngata, and others. This defense is good, not like the Wilkins, Ferrell, Bryant and dexter Lawrence led group but very solid across the board. Wes has done an admiral job of scheming up to stop who were playing. Even UGA only had 2 fgs in the first half and had absolutely no help from the offense.

if only he had a mouth full of tobacco leaves & drool, showed more emotion when fielding questions...more animated beginning every sentence with the "F---" and typically ending with the phrase "G D it". Till he figures that out we're going to have a leaky defense with a habit of getting gashed on Saturday regardless of the opponent.

I agree . This group has a good mix of veterans and young players who are still learning. I think the best is yet to come.

Too much talent on that side of the ball to not be getting to the QB. When that is obvious against bad teams, it gives you pause as to what will happen vs a competent offense. UGA comes to mind.....

Remember how for 3 years we played conservative offense and leaned on the defense to win games? Maybe this year the D is playing slightly more vanilla, picking their spots to bring pressure, while letting the cooking offense get out to early leads and putting pressure on the other team that way.

Depends on the perspective. We are 5-1 and ranked in the Top 10 so it would be childish to question the defense. The other side of the coin is the folly of trying to compare to the glory days of Coach V's defenses when we were a Top 5-10 defense. Now we are no better than 8th in the ACC in yards given up but as long as we are winning and getting better, who cares? The world of football changes every year and to try to look back is just worthless.

The armchair QBs and OCs need something new to gripe about since the improvement of Cade and the offense. They just simply changed sides of the ball, that’s all.

It's common during the game to get upset. Most of it is due to the lack of pressure with the 4 man rush. Playing against top offenses will require some improvement in that area, Goodwin doesn't like to blitz as much as BV did.

Why does any question about this football team get categorized as hate ??
I really like this defense, on all 3 levels, but it does not seem to be as dominating as I thought it might be - as dominating as our defenses of the past.
