So we're seriously suggesting that the actual power behind the throne couldn't even stop himself from getting convicted by his pops' own Federal law enforcement?

Hunter may have been the "family" decision maker because Joe clearly wasn't deciding too much of anything there towards the end, but I've heard pretty consistently that there was an inner circle of four staffers plus his wife Jill who for much of his last year were pretty much pulling Joe's strings and walking him around and posing him like the dead guy at Weekend At Bernie's. There's a ton of seething coming out of the establishment Dems towards those folks, for which it's hard to blame them. I mean, if you feel the need to carry the guy to the finish line of the end of his term for the sake of national continuity, I'm not crazy about it - that's why we're supposed to have vice presidents and do you really want a guy with dementia having his hand on the Big Red Button? - but I could maybe let that slide if there was a firewall built underneath him in case he faltered at a key moment. But the fact that these personal aides carried on the charade with a clearly deteriorating 82-year-old man through the Democratic Party primaries with the intention for running him for a second term when he was the textbook definition of "no longer fit for office", and one carrying a 40% approval rating at that...well. Those folks should pat themselves on the back, they're the ones who put Trump back in office and their sin dances dangerously close to treason.

You'd definitely be hard-pressed to name a more momentous failure of leadership than that. And now the whole world gets to pay the price for it. I don't count the current administration of populist clowns as "leaders" in any sense whatsoever, they're arsonists and all they know how to do is break things.
