Amazing old picture. Looks like nothing in Mt. P developed yet except old village. What year was that?

The new old bridge was not yet built so well before 1965.

I did 54 and change at 65 this year. I was pretty happy with that. The old old bridge was definitely the toughest with the three hills. The new bridge even though higher is not as bad. The long down hill on the backside makes for a nice split for mile 4.

35 - 36 minutes is elite level so kudos to you.
I have completed it around 20 times. These days if I can break 60 minutes I'm happy. My best ever was low 50s.
Agree with your assessment, most runners are so amped up that they sprint to the foot of the bridge and then are toast.
Always enjoy a few cold ones at Tommy Condon's after finishing.

I ain’t no runner but I did ride my 10 speed over the New Old bridge several times in the early ‘70s. There was a woman involved.

Every time I go there, women are one reason for the fun.

Ran it in 2014 and 2016 . I'm not a runner , nor was I then. However , I trained for 4 months prior to each race. It was fun. I got sore. Might do it again at some point.

My wife beat a Kenyan on the Cooper River Bridge race about 25 years ago. The Kenyan passed out, and she ran right past him. Also the old old bridge was a trip to drive on. I swear you could reach out your window and touch the car next to you.

You may have ran it, but at 18 years old, I drove a school bus across it.***

I can’t imagine driving a bus across the old old Cooper River Bridge. Work van was plenty bad enough.
