Might as well air this out

Nick Saban is 71 ... which is almost old enough to run for President.
Anyhew ... it will be sooner rather than later that ol Bama will come calling for Dabo.
How is Dabo's contract written ? Does he get a free out with Bama, or does it cost him more ?
On a sidenote, Jamey Chadwell has Liberty 7-0 in his first season there.

Not sure Dabo is quite as hot a commodity as he was 4 or 5 years ago.

If Coach walked those statements out this week in Tuscaloosa, he would quickly discover that he has to worry about the 98.5%, not the 1.5%.

Don't know about the contract. He'll probably get an interview but they'll probably go after Kirby. The stuff Dabo has said over the years is not Bama material. Their mantra is kids come there to expect to win national championships. Anything less is a failure. Rest assured, the Bama boards have gone ballistic this year.
Bama would be more like 1.6% pumpers and the rest, Dabo would consider bandwagon fans.

They can't afford Kirby if it comes to a bidding war, nor can they afford the depth that UGA can. And their mantra will have to change as long as college football stays in the best team money can buy era. Just like Clemson's mantra will change. Until their is a regulated draft and limits to NIL, get used to uga winning half of the NC's

Why on earth would Kirby leave his alma mater where he has anything and everything he could ever want to go follow the completely rediculous shadow Saban will leave behind. NOBODY wants to be the guy after the GOAT. Whoever the guy after Saban is, they’re going to struggle and get fired after 3 years, mostly due to talent attrition and unrealistic expectations. As far as Dabo, IF he ever wanted to leave, thats the guy he would probably want to follow. When the program is in need of rebuilding and he could do it with his culture/philosophy which is a total 180 compared to Saban’s

Not sure Bama would want him. He constantly whines when people criticize him and refuses to use the portal. Let him drop one game to Vandy and Bama fans would eat him alive

It's still quite obvious that people STILL don't see the "portal issue"...it's not that Dabo refuses to use it, it's clear if there was a player, and a fit/need, we'd take them. That said, and again people don't get (or perhaps don't want to get), our recruited players are almost always better than what's in the portal. AND, the ones that are better/same go to the portal because they already have a big NIL deal waiting for them at their next destination (ie they've already set up where they're transferring to before they enter the portal). Clemson can't compete in the NIL world so bottom line, and very simply, we can't upgrade with the portal; at least not like the schools with big NIL money have been able to. And the bottom line is our players are already better than most in the portal (close to all when you take the ones already with a landing spot).
We have outgained and outplayed everyone on our schedule - we've simply beaten ourselves. And mind you we did the same to FSU, there was never a question who was in control of that game...and oh, that's your portal poster child mind you. FSU was able to upgrade via the portal, yes, but that's mostly because they didn't have the same level of talent nor depth as us. What's also being missed is how young our team is...FSU is all upper classmen, for FSU it was this year or never (maybe further down the road, sure) because next year they'll likely be a 2-3 loss team no doubt.
We had a miss on DJU, there's been a lot said about he was in the wrong system, but experts point out he has "slow eyes". Like EJ Manuel at FSU, you can't teach or change that...so we had "2 down years" which compared to 98% of the programs are years they wish they could have; and now we have a young team with an elite QB that's young, learning, making 1st year starter mistakes, and a ton of unforced errors (beating ourselves). I'd say we're doing better than fine without the portal.

Alabama Alum here, many in the Bama nation don’t think that will happen. Dabo is a great coach and finishes out his career with the Tigers!

I don’t see why he wouldn’t. He pretty much has a lifetime contract here at Clemson to do whatever he wants whenever he wants. All while being one of the highest paid head coaches in college football history….doesn’t get much better than that from a coaches standpoint

Alabama Fired Dabo Swinney

Tommy Bowden gave Dabo a shot. (Tommy is the son of Bobby Bowden and Bobby was a classmate of Dabo Swinney's mom in HS)
Frank Howard (Dabo met him at his Mom's birthday part as a child and CDS first game was in November around the same date that Frank Howard's last game coached was)
Dabo Swinney is a very intelligent man. I hope he understands that there is a deeper connection than money.

Alabama might have gone after Dabo 5 years ago, I don't know. I think they'd like the results and that he was an alum, but not his antics and weird cult persona. Alabama wouldn't tolerate that. They wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole now.

By "weird cult persona" I'm assuming you mean sticking to values, accountability, responsibility and loyalty? Def sounds like a millennial comment right there...high integrity, high morals and all the above have no place apparently in this flighty, click bait, irresponsible world/generation. Sad.

I got to observe the Bama faithful before, during, and after two CFP games. The Bama crowd is very nice and business like. They expect their team to win. ALWAYS. When the team falls short, the want to know what happened. When Dabo was building he would ask for certain amenities and in justification would reply “because Bama has it.”. Well while he was building, he also changed the mindset of the Clemson fan base. We are also like Bama. We expect to win and when the Tigers don’t we ask “what happened?’ The Dabo that has been speaking here lately will not fit in at Bama. Not a knock on Dabo but, just an observation.
I will always purchase my season tickets and show up at DV to cheer on the team. If the Tigers are 0-11 going into the final game, I will still show up for the chicken game. Remember in the past, Bama fired a coach that won 10 games and could not beat Auburn.

Dabo will not get the call to replace Saban. Maybe 4 years ago. But not now. Bama fans expect the team to play for a natty every yr. Dabo can't handle that kind of pressure.
