You know, on the field she seems so calm and cool

but you read this article, and the girl has some serious fire in her. Like picking the number 72 to represent her goals. Very ambitious! She has a lot of fire, but it's almost all internalized rather than outwardly expressed.

Reading this, too, sheds light on the way she left the field after the NCAA tourney game against Alabama, when she was in tears. I'm sure some of it was disappointment, but after reading the story, a lot of it was probably pain, too, and frustration with it.

These are the student-athletes I'm enjoying following now. I still enjoy football, but these "minor" sports like softball - she doesn't have a multi-million dollar contract waiting for her after graduation. She's out there for herself and her team - pursuing her own goals and her team's goals. That's what college sports has, up until the last several years, been all about.

Really hoping this team can find their old form, get some fires lit in their bellies, and roll through our regional and get to Oklahoma!
