C- overall, there were way too many coaching breakdowns throughout the season. The defense was not good, to say the least. The offense progressed nicely, but the lack of depth was evident on both sides of the ball throughout the year, and I can't even get myself mad again about the FG protection this year anymore, it was a disgrace.
Final grades:
Offense - B+ Defense - D+ Special Teams - C- Coaching - D+

And if I asked the question preseason that if Clemson made the playoffs would that be an A? You would have said heck yes! C- is absurd!
I would give a B+, winning ACC and going to playoffs. But our Run Def sucks and we need huge improvement at DL, LB and RB.

Offense B+. No excuse for not having a backup RB ready when Mafah was not 100% the last 5ish games Defense D. Running defense was a total fail. Special teams D. Way too many FG blocks and a punter that could never flip the field.

Based on the following scale:
15-0 = A+ (ie. 2018)
Then...
14 wins = A 13 wins = A- 12 wins = B+ 11 wins = B 10 wins = B- 9 wins = B- 8 wins = C+
etc, etc...
While we got to 10 wins, which would normally be a B-, I'm giving us extra credit for winning the ACC and making the playoff.

1. Win the opener - no 2. Make the ACCCG - yes 3. Win the state - no 4. Win the ACC - yes 5. Win the closer - no
40% of goals achieved. Not sure that merits an F, but don’t think I can call it a passing grade either.

2 and 4 are essentially the same thing. Unless you’re saying finishing first before the championship game, which we didn’t do.

The #2 goal used to be win the division. That would qualify us for a spot in the ACC championship game. I believe #2 on this list is “qualify for the ACC championship game “, which would mean finishing first or second in the conference regular season, which we did. If that’s the case then #2 and #4 are indeed different.

Offense: B+, real improvement here, would have been an A except for going conservative in the 2nd half of the Louisville and Coot games
Defense: C-, regression from last year, inability to stop the run really hurt us.
Special Teams: C-, Hauser looks like a great kicker ( if we can block for him), Punting was below average.
Offensive Coaching : C+, improvements on offense, still some issues with play calling and the lack of a functional rb room rotation hurt us in the end.
Defense Coaching: D, total regression across the board.

overall a B for making the playoffs. That should be an A but losing to the coots and SMU being the only good team we beat would be a C- without the CFP berth

I would rate the season as a C+ The defense against the run is what drops the grade the most. Offense disappearing in second half of key games also lowered it. Punting and blocked kicks on ST were a negative impact....however, it was ST plays that got us an ACC Crown and a trip to the CFP.

Hmm, 10 wins and ACC title, but 4 losses, loss to ccots and blowout to UGA. I’d have to give that a B-.
Coaching a C-, Cade an A, 56-if FG A+, run defense F.

C- only for blowing the game against the Coots, otherwise at least a B. It was a season of NO complementary football. If the Offense was good enough, the defense wasn't.....if the defense was good enough, the offense wasn't. Defense was bad a lot, but they played good enough to beat the Coots...our offense should've already had 20+ points in that final min when the Coots still had 10.

I’d give the season a B-, due to making the playoffs, which I didn’t expect…. But losing to SC has to lose points, which is why I added the minus…. Coaching cost the team a higher ceiling.

My wife said I got a A- for our tailgates this year. We did secure an A+ location but there was one game where the crock pot walking taco dish was a little too spicy for her liking.
Doesn’t matter what anyone else says. She is the only one authorized to give me a grade.

B is the absolute highest I could see
Dec 27, 2024, 11:02 AM
|
|
Negatives: -Blown out by Georgia -Blown out at home by Louisville (final score was closer than the game ever was) -Lost at home to the coots - Lost by two TDs at Texas
Positives: -7-1 conference record, albeit against a very easy league schedule -Beat SMU and won the conference which also earned us a CFP berth
For a program of our caliber I would say: A+ = national title A = semifinals, win the acc, beat the coots B+ = at least two of the above
This season was definitely somewhere below that. We played 5 teams that finished in the top 15-20 of FPI/SP+/etc. We went 1-4 in those games and the combined score was Clemson 96 - Opponents 153. We gave up 31+ pts in every game except SC. Honestly feels like a C+.

I am grading this season as a B-.
The offense was improved and showed a little creativity, but the RB injuries really hurt us.
The defense was disappointing against the run and we were gashed many times. The special teams was atrocious at times, but shined at a few others. We need a ST coach.
The blowout against UGA took the air out of our tires, but we carried on and made it a winning season. The loss to the coots was inexcusable. The SMU win was miraculous. Sure, it could have been a better season, but it could have been alot worse.
