So, this weekend we went down to Emerald Isle. Weather was kinda #### most mornings, but in the evenings, the sun came out and it was pretty nice out. We didn't make it out to the beach much, but on Friday afternoon, after our mid-day nap, Red noticed there were about 5 police cars out on the beach right in front of our house. We went up on the second story porch to get a better view and noticed a 16', center console boat sitting on the beach and folks frantically running to and from the boat. A few minutes later a coast guard boat entered the scene and started doing laps, followed shortly after a coast guard rescue helicopter. We left for dinner, but found out while we were out that they found a single body.
I know someone on the island pretty well from college and he was telling me that the guy wasn't wearing a life jacket, much less a kill switch device. The folks two houses down from us ended up calling the police when they saw the boat going in circles about a hundred yards off the beach. Yall be careful out there.
