I missed this the other night. Missouri is still ranked somehow? That has to be the most egregious overhype in the entire top 25.
They have 1 win over an FBS team with a winning record - Vanderbilt. In double overtime, at home.
They only have 4 FBS wins in total.
There are 3 ranked teams on their schedule:
@ Texas A&M: Lost by 31
@ Alabama: Lost by 34
@ South Carolina: Lost by 4
Their average margin of victory in their 4 FBS wins is 5 points.
What in that resume gives any indication that they are top 25?

Missouri is only ranked to help Bama's SOS. If Bama loses to TX in the SECCG, the fraudulent committee will try to convince us that Bama is still worthy of a playoff spot. They are the only team that would get in with 3 losses. Bama will always get hooked up.

Yes, it matters. It brings into question the criteria the committee is using. It also falsely gives an additional data point (top 25 win) to the teams that beat them, elevating resumes of contenders.

Right, but if the committee is deciding who is #12 between 2 teams, and one of those teams has a "top 25 win vs Missouri", it's going to give them an undeserved bump in the discussion.
That's the knock on preseason rankings and the lower half of the top 25 in general...you start in a perceived position, you immediately improve the perception of the schedule for anybody you play. But you didn't earn that starting point...someone just put you there.

Last I looked Colorado has 2 wins over teams thatvare .500 or better. Last I saw one team with winning record and only played 1 team that was ranked. They are over-ranked all day and definitely with 2 losses should definitely not be ranked ahead of us. That is the Sanders effect!

We only have 1 win over a team above .500. We only played 1 ranked team. We also have 2 losses.

Well VT, UVA, NCST are all .500 but had winning records when we played them and Pitt is 7-3. NCSt, Pitt, FSU, UGA, Louisville have all been ranked at some point this season. I think Colorado has played 2 teams that were ranked at some point, Nebraska and Kansas St.
But I understand your point.

It doesn't matter one bit if a team was ranked at one time, or had a winning record at one time. What matters is who they really are - how good they really are - and you know that answer more and more as the year goes on.
Nobody is getting kudos for beating FSU because they were once ranked in the top 10. We know who they are now.
