Sunday’s women’s championship game between South Carolina and Iowa brought in 18.87 million viewers on ABC and ESPN, a record for women’s basketball in the United States and the most watched hoops contest of any kind in five years.

That's the largest hoops audience in any league between any teams in the last 5 years. Iowa's semifinal game had more than double the cacks' semi (14.4m to 7.1m) and even their round of 8 game was 5M more. So again, it was all Clark and nothing to do with the cacks.

Also in the middle of the freaking night. But I definitely was more interested in seeing cc play than either of the men’s teams. And I’ve never watched wbb.

Could it have something to do with being aired at:
3:00 pm on Sunday afternoon on over-the-air ABC, cable ESPN, and streaming on ESPN+
verses
9:20 pm on Monday night on cable trio of TBS, TruTV and TNT ?

Men's game was on TBS...

Women's game was on ABC.

But Clark is probably the real difference.
