Jeff Scott isn’t coming back to Clemson to be our offensive coordinator.

|
So let’s please stop posting about it.
First of all, Dabo hired Streeter and he isn’t going to fire or demote Brandon anytime soon. Streeter will get at least 2-3 years to be the offensive coordinator.
Second, Jeff would be committing career suicide to go back to be OC the same place he was previously. He wants to be a head coach and I expect him to try to get another head coaching position. If he does decide to take an OC position, it won’t be at Clemson.

People love to post on this board without knowing any context or just want to say something.
Jeff Scott is a Clemson Grad. Jeff Scott’s dad take a job being a position coach at Clemson after being a HC at a rival. Jeff Scott could have left Clemson a few times but wouldn’t until what he felt was the right job came along.
Dabo will find him a spot on the staff.
The real thing that might keep Jeff from coming back to Clemson is the contract terms of his buyout. It might be more lucrative for him not to coach.

We don't need him as an OC. We need him as a "consultant". To get a new set of eyes on the offense.
He can also tell dabo.....what's up, without fear of losing his job.
It's a win win. Clemson gets a little help. Current coaches get a little nervous. Jeff gets to stay in football for 2 more months.
Think judge.....think.

Why do people put so much into Jeff’s Scott’s OC success? He split it with Tony and he had some of the best offensive skill talent in the nation.
We all need to understand that these coaches all across college football are only as good as the talent on the field. Give Paul Johnson a team full of 5* and he’d win a NC.
Jeff Scott was one hell of a recruiter and if he get a position in Clemson to be able to hit the recruiting tail then I’d be all for it because we haven’t recruited a 5* WR since he left. It maybe that has more to do with NIL than recruiting.

As Dabo has done throughout the CFP, we have several people providing input into ideas, like Jeff did when he was here, but at point has he ever been an OC.
And like you said, we don't need an OC.
Frankly, I haven't seen all these people pining for Jeff as OC? I think it's more a case of Fudge Smeller exaggerating in yet another troll hack. She can't go a day without trolling the board.

JCantrell86,
Agree with you 100% with your comment about Jeff Scott being a great recruiter but since Jeff Left Clemson to become the HC at South Florida college football has changed.
Before Jeff Scott left Clemson a lot has changed in college football. The biggest change is the vast amounts of money schools are putting out their disguised as NIL payments. HC’s like Jimbo Fisher, Lane Kiffin, Saban, Ryan and other HC’s that will manipulate the NIL rules to go after the top players will make it more difficult for Clemson to recruit the top targets. Parents are already getting much more involved in their kids recruiting more so since NIL can make their kids wealthy. Many parents may quite their jobs to manage their kid’s NIL money and promote NIL opportunities for their kid’s. Many of you may have noticed how Dabo has been pushing fans to buy merchandise to create NIL opportunities for Clemson players.
Now back to Jeff Scott. Can he duplicate the same recruiting success at Clemson with NIL enticements and the TP in place. ??? With the new landscape of College Football does Clemson have the money to Compete with UGA, Auburn, Alabama, Texas and other wealthy school. Only time will tell us if we can hang with the big money schools.
I wish Dabo and his staff the best in future recruiting. I hope we can continue to successfully recruit the quality of players like the ETN’s, Tee Higgins, Mike Williams, Kids like Hunter Renfrow and greats like TL and DW to Clemson University.
Go Tigers!

Would take Chad Morris in a minute if we are going to pick up a consultant...Chad may not be Mike Leach but he's close enough for government work! Some of Leaches ideas actually came from Chad when he was at Stephenville I think...they won a state championship right out of the blue after Chad got there and he moved up the HS ranks there!

That definitely wont help Brad's career. There's been a mass exodus out of Charlottesville and i kind of doubt Tony is going to be able to replace that talent quickly enough to get things turned around in a timely manner. They're almost certainly going to stink again next year.

Agreed. Plus if speculation is correct why would he come back to have his play calls vetoed by Dabo? Dabo has to hire someone he will respect and keep his hands out of their job.

Like Someone is gonna hire Jeff to be a head coach after going 4-26. Maybe a high School.
How do you know he doesn't want (maybe need) come back as an analyst for a year or two and wait for WR or OC position to come up soon that he likes.

Several failed head coaches have swallowed their pride and taken a coordinator position again. It's just something you have to do sometimes. Unless he takes a high school head coaching job.
I don't think an FCS school would even hire him at this point.

If Scott wants to be a head coach sooner than later again, he should go get an OC job somewhere else to prove that it wasn’t the Clemson system that made him successful.
If Jeff is in no rush to return, then sure ..Dabo would find him something to do for the program.
If Jeff doesn’t want to be a head coach again, then come on back home..

I'd like to have him back, but the chances that Dabo would demote Streeter to co-OC are slim to none. Knowing Jeff, I don't think he would be comfortable doing that to Streeter anyway.
As a former OC at Clemson, and head coach at USF, I don't see him taking an analyst or WR coach position at Clemson when he could easily be an OC elsewhere.

Jeff Scott will need to be an assistant somewhere. He has no chance of being a HC at any D1 school, so there is that. You are probably accurate about Streeter. That said, Jeff Scott will be an assistant if he ever wants to coach again.

If he still has head coaching aspirations, I believe he may have already committed head coaching career suicide by going 4-26 at USF. I think Streeter gets a pass this season as his QB play was horrendous, which capped play calling in a big way. However, if Streeter cannot put a functional offense on the field with CK2, it would be time to part ways at that point, possibly opening the door for Scott to step in. With that said, I don't think it would be a bad idea for Scott to step onto an analyst/recruiting role as he prepares for the next step in his coaching career. I doubt that any reputable program is willing to hire him on as a head coach at this point. He has a bit of a hill to climb as USF was a setback to his career trajectory.

I don’t know about most ppl here but I never really thought that was even a possibility… also judging by the playcalling in the ACCCG with Cade it was completely diff that what we saw all year which tells you all you need to know… I think street can get it done as a play caller with the right qb and play makers , I would love to see Scott on staff in some capacity just for recruiting purposes even if it’s only a couple years before he’s off to another job … can only help

We already have a good OC.

Dabo didn't deem it necessary to have Brandon share the position. I resisted all accusations that our poor offensive performances was due to Streeter running the show.
BS didn't magically become a genius playcaller when Cade stepped in against UNC. Obviously DJ was our issue. I would love to have Jeff recruiting or doing something for our program but I do not want to give up BS at OC for JS.

You mean like Matt Patricia and Josh McDaniels have done?

But why would it be career suicide? You know what would be career suicide.. an AD hiring him to lead another D-1 program right now. USF completed better this year but they largely stunk unless a CUSA or Sun Belt team takes a flyer on him, he is going to need to go somewhere as a coordinator again or moving into the NFL ranks.

So....we'll see how this plays out, but the part about not firing Streeter didn't age well.
