She's still a beaut, Clark.

Things have been interesting. Right off the bat I replaced the frunk struts since the hood wouldn't stay up. Then I had a specialty shop replace the water pump, thermostat, some belts and pulleys and other bits. Aside from being expensive and taking longer than expected, I was satisfied.

Then I bought a glass wind deflector that clips in behind the front seats. When I went to pop it in, one of the clips on the roll bar snapped and shot around my garage like a god #### pinball. Ordered some OEM clips, which came with the necessary pop rivets, and I bought a pop rivet gun that I'll likely never use again.

Fun's not over yet! Last month I went to put the top down so I could get a better look at something and this happened:

That can't be good! The convertible top motor is connected to two cables — one for each side — and one of them snapped. No big deal except this tweaked the clamshell panel, so now we're talking about body work and paint. Three weeks, several thousand dollars, and one very sore bee-hole later and we're back in business.

Then there's the after market audio system, which may have been impressive 20 years ago. I'm gonna have a terrific time unretarding this situation.

This came out today:

It was custom fabricated by someone. I replaced it with another storage pocket for now.

They removed the factory amp and put these crossovers in its spot. Why two crossovers for four speakers?

So I ripped that #### out. The amplifier wiring job in the frunk looks really well done aside from being totally antiquated and serving no purpose anymore.

My wife came home while I was fiddling with this and I was like, "Look! Monster Cables! LOL out loud!" She goes, "Is that supposed to mean something to me?" Anyway, we're getting divorced.

Next step will be the head unit. The rat nest back there ought to be fascinating. Thankfully nobody fooled with the speakers from what I can tell.

This is my car's theme song. Hopefully I'll be able to play it while I'm driving soon.

Joonyer sold his Jeep and bought a 2000 Boxter S (as a second vehicle/toy) about

two years ago. He's had one minor issue with it so far but I don't remember what that was. I just know it was in the shop for a day for something that didn't cost much and I took him to go pick it up. He really seems to enjoy it.

Aside from the top, these are all trivial issues.

The engine work was voluntary preventative maintenance. The car is an absolute blast to drive and I love it.

I would recommend Joonyer replace the cables for the top so he doesn't suffer my fate. Should be a relatively cheap job. I also opened a claim, so we'll see if insurance covers any of the damage.

Thanks, I will definitely pass that along to him!***

I mean, why wouldn't you want 2 cross overs in a 2 seater car?

Think of all the speakers in that ride.

I really had no idea though that those were rear engine cars. Learned me something today.

Hopefully I'm not one of the 8%.

If it has the dual row bearing, there should be almost zero risk. I'll replace it out of an abundance of caution when I do the clutch.
