Old Man shoes. Whatcha wear?

I've been wearing Brooks for the past 15 years, and before that New Balance, but have noticed a lot of people wearing HOKA and ON shoes. Are they more stable, more comfortable, or what?

Hoka is a high end running shoe.

It's basically the Stanley cooler mug of running shoes..yeah it is a good product but more often purchased to be trendy.

A good pair of Saucony or Brooks are just as good imo.

Tried on a number of different shoes at Dick's over a period of several months and this one was the most comfortable with great heel and ball of my foot support. Great for plantar fasciitis. I had some Brooks Glycerin prior to these.

I had Hokas before the Brooks. Brooks are way more comfortable for me and I'm on my feet 9-10 hrs per day at work walking concrete surfaces

Went away from Brooks one time to try Hoka. Mistake! Not a fan of Hokas. I had the Hoka Clifton. Normally wear Brooks Levitate

I got the wife a pair of NB 1080s and she likes them. Considering Brooks, saucony Triumph and ASICS for next pair.

I have converted 100% to Sketchers Slip -ons. I have lower back issues and an arthritic hip so getting to my shoes to tie them is becoming more of a challenge every day. Problem solved.

I love Brooks and I've heard from reliable sources that Hoka is right there with them. Asic's and New Balance are solid. As for OC's, I have two pair and I primarily where them for their looks.

I like OC's but don't buy a shoe because of the name only. You don't need a Yeti cooler when a good Igloo or Coleman will do the same for half the money.

good running shoes, but many of their models are very very soft... some are decently firm

but i have found that the midsoles tend to compress fairly quickly compared to other brands

Hoka Clifton 9, and Brooks Ghost max 2 , I alternate between the 2, when you get old and have foot problems, you’ll start buying better shoes.

Brooks Auroras the most comfortable running shoe I've ever worn and I will be buying another pair when needed.

I wore out five pairs of On Clouds. Very comfortable shoes. The sixth pair contributed to me falling and breaking my hand. I threw out a pair that I had worn once. The On soles wear out extremely fast. The sole pattern also is flawed with less sole to surface area. I replaced the On Clouds with Brooks Ghost. In rainy conditions, you can hear and feel the Brooks grabbing the surface. On Clouds in water are like trying to walk with slick tires. I also purchased the weatherized (not totally waterproof) Brooks Ghost for travel. For jogging I wear ASICS Gel Cumulus.

Turns out I am a klutz. Chipped my elbow jogging and broke my hand traveling. . I have started paying attention to my shoes and how they perform in wet conditions.

I switched to Hoka Bondi’s 5-6 years ago and that’s all I wear now. I can’t comment on other Hoka styles. The Bondi’s are like running/walking on pillows. Good arch support, good heel cradle, and good cushioning. Some young-uns say they are too spongy? But, I’m old so they are great for me.

I’ve been wearing ON cloud 5s for the last couple years and I do like them but I recently bought my first pair of brooks ghost 17’s and they’re very comfortable. My only complaint with the Cloud 5s is they wear out fairly quick. I’m hoping the brooks last a bit longer.
