Did not envision his career going this way...

His best year (catches, yards and TDs) was his freshman year at Clemson. He had a similar year in yardage and catches last year. But this year he's 11th on the team in catches, 9th in yards.
Hopefully he gets a medical redshirt and finds a place next year that he can go ball out.

Too bad it didn't workout at Indiana! They have a really good team this year. Cignetti has done a good job there his 1st season.

A test case for staying where you are. His freshman numbers at Clemson predicted later success. Impatience is almost never a good motivator.

Well good luck to you EJ. I wonder how good he could have been at Clemson if he had stayed with a Covid year and another year of eligibility.

So who is paying for his surgery and rehab? Would IU foot the bill for a guy that left the team?

Not sure of what the standard is... but I will throw some speculation out there... Maybe the school you are competing for is obligated to pay for surgery if you are injured while competing for said school?

As previously questioned, who pays for his surgery and rehab? Is IU "required" to provide those as well as training facilites as well as his Scholarship now and though the Spring semester? Sound like it can add up to quite a bit of $$$s for the school. Would be interesting as it seems like this is becoming more prevalent now.

yeah might want to think about that when leaving. Will they pay but send the rookie orthopedic doctor to do the surgery

Somewhere along the line. He's now attended two great institutions in Clemson and Indiana. IU having a banner yr too, may be fun to hang around the rest of the yr.

Not on players seeking a 6th year in college. EJ started at Clemson in 2020 with great promise. Wish him the best. But seeing more and more college players, with no NFL future, seeking 6 years of paid college.

I thought he was going to be the next elite Clemson WR and a future NFL player, but 65 catches for 772 yards and 2 TDs at two different schools over 5 years... He needs to go ahead and hit the portal and transfer to a job. Transferring down another level isn't getting him to the pros.

I am still waiting for a portal player to talk about the better educational opportunites he will recieve by moving elsewhere. You know like saying, "I really like IU and all, but I really want to aim at a top notch nuclear science program and they just don't have it."

You'll never hear those words.
Wishing EJ the best. But yet another example of the portal not being so great for student athletics.
