Anyone here have experience with Clemson Licensing Program?

I came up with a pretty good idea for a product this morning and am going to reach out to the Director of Trademarks and Licensing. If anyone has experience dealing with something similar, let me know. This could be HUGE!

Freshman year, 1992-93, they tried to shut down every single student selling completely awesome t-shirts door to door in the halls on game weekends.
That is my only experience. I hope this helps.

At the end of the day, I’m just going to stick those extra costs to the consumer or figure out a way to bootleg the product if I think their cut will have a significant impact on total sales. I just need to know what to expect. 5%, 10%, 70%?

I know how to Google. I got that far and was preparing my email to the director when it dawned on me that I may want to keep this on the down low if I think they’ll ask for too much.

They’ll get their money up front or after and it will cost you a lot more after
This is one time asking for forgiveness is not better than asking permission
Had a friend selling flag tiger paws, their mistake was including the notch. They had their remaining stock seized and a judgement equal to their sales to date rendered against them.
Cost is not a set rate so you are going to have to follow the process to get an answer to your question. That and not my doubt of your Google skills is why I posted the link.

I talked to conservativealex and he said that trademarks are more conceptual than legal and you only need permission if it's federal government IP.

So how much did they extort you for? Did you have to pay a fixed cost upfront or just a percentage of sales? I’m projecting $420K in gross sales for year one. If they’re going to take more than $2575, I might just take my chances.

yes, they will charge you more than $2,575, so you should definitely take your chances, and catalog your exploits here, in this safe space.

So this morning, as I was staring at my morning wood, I got to thinking. We all send #### pics nowadays and I don’t think enough of us take the time to do it right. I view it as an art form and have a whole studio set up in my nightstand. I went to Toys R Us years ago and bought a bunch of accessories like a Barbie Jeep, boat, swimming pool, Ken sunglasses etc. I’ve got a really good two inch Lenox hole saw that I use to create my entry point into the toys. Chicks absolutely love the pictures of Lil’ Chad just hanging out and chillin.
Anyhow, with football season just around the corner, I thought I could make a Clemson themed line of #### costumes and football jerseys for guys to use to impress the ladies. I figure at $35 a pop, I could sell at least 12,000 of them based on how many guys are enrolled at Clemson and how many alumni actively support the Tigers.
I think it would sell better if the costumes weren’t just Tigers, but had the Paw or even official school logo/name. Licensing through the NCAA is cost prohibitive, as I would probably have to jack up my price to over $50. I’m hoping if I limit it to just Clemson, it won’t be so expensive. If that takes off the way I think it will, I can revisit going bigger.
I’m working on my sizing chart now. Do you think I should just make them S, M, L, and XL or should I be more creative and color code the chart? Yellow, White, Black, Orange, Purple, etc?
