Seeing as their linebacking core right now is consisting of back ups and freshmen I wouldn't say their LB's hold the edge, although healthy then I would have to possibly agree.

Maybe TE. We are much better at LB. O'Daniel and Joseph are 2 of the best in the nation. At CB Carter is statistically one of the best in the nation and Mullen is better than Wallace IMO.

Hmm, I'm not too sure any of us have near enough information to compare all of these position groups. Although it's worth a shot to see what people come up with.

Hootie Jones their starting safety is out for the game leaving Harrison and probably moving Fitzpatrick over to safety to compensate so they will have some younger guys playing CB. Tony Brown the guy Hunter beat for the GW last year and another sophomore to play at CB if they decide to move Minkah to safety again due to injury.

I didn't know Hootie was out. I would give us the edge at S too with him out.

Need to look at match-ups. Over simplified below, but my thoughts.
Passing game v. Secondary. Defense Wins for both teams. RB v. Linebackers. Defense wins for both teams. OL v. DL. I think Clemson has the advantage on both sides of the ball here. Punt v. Punt Return. As great as JK Scott is, he can outkick his coverage which could give RRMIII some room to run. Clemson with a slight advantage. Kicking v. Kick Return. Almost a moot point nowadays.

Something to consider is: yeah, they're getting some LB's back, and those guys will have had some time to heal up and all...but are they in game shape yet?
I'm honestly worried about the likes of Tre Lamar and Mark Fields for us, just because those guys were out the last month...there will be some rust there. Some of these guys Bama is getting back literally didn't play since the first week of the season. Fortunately we have some cover for our guys, and can maybe play them maybe 50/50 against Bama. Whereas Bama...maybe has no such luxury. Their backups looked bad down the stretch.
So are these Bama guys going to just hop back on the field four months after last playing and be instantly dominant again? And what use are they going to be late on in the game when they are thoroughly dragging? I'm dubious.
They need to keep our offensive snap count down in the worst way. They go 3-and-out a lot on offense and stuff could snowball on them.
Losing that safety doesn't help. They need to be able to control our run game without bringing guys down into the box; if we can get that +1 edge courtesy of Kelly Bryant running the ball they could be in trouble. There will be some wide open 1-on-1's down the field that would have made Deshaun Watson weep in envy, he saw them so seldom in his own Clemson career.

The comparison should be our OL vs their DL. Our WR vs their CBs. It doesn't matter if we have better guys at a specific position than they do. It matters if we have better players against the specific position groups our guys will be going up against

I would say Bamas RBs are equal if not a little better. Remember we are comparing the top two programs in the country so take the glasses off. TNT has been a pleasant surprise but make no mistake, Scarborough was very effective against us last year before he got hurt. Go Tigers!

I said even in my post. TNT average more yards per carry than Scar and Harris as a duo. Feaster was number 1 out of high school and ETN has the Clemson freshman record for TDs. So yeah I would give ours the edge if I had to. Both duos are amazing. Also we go 4 deep and I know Bama has another great back as well.

You think their starting LBs are better than Lamar, O'Daniel, and Joseph?

With Shaun Dion Hamilton it may be a wash but he is out. We have way more experience though with O'Daniel and Joseph starting last year.

I think overall we are the better team offensively , but the trenches is where this game ( cliche alert ) will be won . Particularly our OL vs the Bama DL . If our OL plays a GREAT game we should win by 2 scores . If our OL plays an AVG. game we still win , but in another nail-biter. If our OL performs POORLY we will be beaten , most likely . It cannot be understated how important the additional blocking support of our RBs is , and how KB having time to throw down the field will be . We are NOT going to be able to run the football down the throats of Saban's defense , and that's a certainty in my mind based on the fact that nobody does , ever . Throw it , run it for effect and beat them by playing turnover-free and great special teams and defense.
