The European Union, which was formed for the primary purpose of taking advantage of the United States on TRADE, has been very difficult to deal with. Their powerful Trade Barriers, Vat Taxes, ridiculous Corporate Penalties, Non-Monetary Trade Barriers, Monetary Manipulations, unfair and unjustified lawsuits against Americans Companies, and more, have led to a Trade Deficit with the U.S. of more than $250,000,000 a year, a number which is totally unacceptable. Our discussions with them are going nowhere! Therefore, I am recommending a straight 50% Tariff on the European Union, starting on June 1, 2025. There is no Tariff if the product is built or manufactured in the United States. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

This one is going to actually hurt. This is something the Fed can't patch up by shifting toxic debt to some shell companies (like Enron accountants did).

Yôu have had plenty of buying opportunities under Trump. I am surprised you still have cash to invest. What have you been waiting on? Throw it all in there.

VAT applies to all "luxury" goods, whether domestic or imported. It's not a bad system, just an alternate system.

From a business perspective, it may be time for most companies to get lean and defensive until Bernie Trump is out of office.

Now do you finally see that the world has been living off U.S. tax payer $s and U.S. debt? Even the Stock Market loves woeful spending. Ask yourself, if tariffs are so bad, why does the rest of the world have tariffs on U.S. goods? Without tariffs, VAT taxes and other fees on U.S. products, the EU couldn't survive. There is enough that needs to be done here without paying for the world. The "worm is turning" and we will survive.

As to the VAT rant/issue. You do know the VAT is added to nearly every good and service in the EU ? It is NOT just added to USA imports.
It is how those countries envied by all stupid progressives pay for that “free” stuff. On average 63% of each euro earned is taken by the government in some form of tax or fee.
So if Trump thinks he is gonna get them to abolish those VAT’s he is ignorant/stupid. Especially as they say they are ramping up defense spending.

The VAT is basically the universal sales tax that so many conservatives use to ########## over. Except it's applied to "non-essential" items.

How did we make 7B Euro in tariffs from EU products vs their 3B Euro from US

products in 2023? How did that happen if they are gouging us and we just let everything come in? How???
People HAVE to stop repeating Trump's talking points as if they are gospel. Not only are they not gospel...they aren't even "lies of omission". Many of them are just plain lies.
VAT tax applies to all products produced, foreign and domestic. How is that unfair to the US?
What are all these fees Trump talks about? Can anyone name one? Just one. Does anyone have a single statistic as to how much in aggregate they cost US manufacturers? Why is this boogeyman cost accepted as truth when no one has produced a single shred of evidence?
EU and US have overall low tariffs between the two trading partners. On average, certainly below 5%. On certain items of economic significance, we will both adjust them. EU charges a 10% tariff on US cars vs our 2.5% tariff on their cars. But the US charges a 25% tariff on EU pickups, which is a huge part of the US market. Fair? Should Europe start a trade war?
This whole thing is pure nonsense and embarrassing.

debunked. They never come back and say "Well, that's a good point...I really don't know what the 'fees' are that are referenced...and I guess a VAT tax on everyone and everything can't really be considered unfair to the US since it does not at all create an uneven playing surface. Oh, and I guess everyone uses tariffs, us included, to a small amount." That NEVER happens. Heck, they don't even come back and offer counterpoints...you know, a list of "fees" or some explanation as to how VAT taxes are specifically harmful to us. That also NEVER happens. They just move on to the talking point...but they'll come back to this talking point again a little later and completely ignore the previous comments. Like robots. Maddening.

I think Trump needs to get in there and do the negotiations himself. The people doing it can't do it. We need the world's best negotiator in there. I am sure he has built solid relationships with these European leaders, so it should be no problem to get things done with his skills and the bond he has built.

The teachings of Jesus have the solutions to most of the world's problems. Jefferson didn't believe in the divine aspect, but he held all of the parts of the NT directly attributed to Jesus in the highest regard. He edited the NT to remove miracles and the resurrection. The result is an edited "Bible" that is presented to every new congressman and senator.
