Need to remake these positions as "service to country" not "service to self by banking off of country".

With money, party support, etc. Most voters don’t understand how much. BTW, the Top Job is under term limits, why not all of them?

Congress will run this country into the dirt before limiting their capability to spend our money.

I'm torn here. An argument could be made that term limits

would only strengthen the power of lobbyists, in effect allowing lobbyists to play musical chairs with congressional seats.
At the same time Lindsay Graham, so I dunno...

Experience is not necessarily a bad thing but career politicians tend to stink.

No argument here.
We were never supposed to have a professional politician class in America...something about "we the people", I seem to recall.
Basically, you're supposed to go do your term...and come home. I go do my term...and come home. Doug down the street goes and does his term, and comes home.
I can deal with you and Doug. We're just folks. We put our heads together like ordinary reasonable folks and leave politics out of the conversation, we can work things out about 99.99% of the time and come up with something we can all live with.
You start getting politicians and shady populist real-estate moguls and reality-show celebrities in there, we start having real problems, because those guys are freaking crooks and they get everybody all crazy-like. Right now we're trying to choose between hemlock and cyanide and those are not terribly good options.

Q,
I might point out that the political world has become quite a bit more complex in the last 250 years. It might take more than the guy next door to best navigate it.
Expertise and experience are valued in all other fields of endeavor, why not this one ?
The corrupting influence here is the money and the special interests. If you want quality, conscientious, experienced statesmen and women, get the $$$ out of politics.

Hopw can one keep calling for term limits without recognizing that they are unconstitutional.
If you want politicians to be beholding to the American people, you have to find ways to get $$$ oput of politics (donations & lobbying). Money is NOT speech.
