I think the ACC dodged a bullet by not accepting Texas...

The Longhorns simply are not a very good football school. Maybe they are good at Olympic style sports, but those sports aren't earners. Here is their football record by year...
2020: 7-3 2019: 8-5 2018: 10-4 2017: 7-6 2016: 5-7 2015: 5-7 2014: 6-7 2013: 8-5 2012: 9-4 2011: 8-5 2010: 5-7
I'm surprised the SEC didn't take a closer look at these numbers before making the decision to allow Texas in.

Plus they had a big TV contract. I think the SEC thinks that could just continue on with the SEC dividing the money.

But don't worry, Texas will be ranked in the top 15 before they play Bama in order to pump up Bama's SoS

By your logic the PAC 12 is the best football conference because of their population. Jim Phillips got this one right.

It’s not about population, it’s about viewership. Boston, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Those are all huge cities. They like professional sports, not college. Just having a big population does not mean viewership. Having a huge alumni base does. This isn’t rocket science!

So here is a list of some of the most desirable college football schools, from a TV standpoint...
1 University of Central Florida Orlando, Florida 71,913 [1] 2 Texas A&M University[note 1] College Station, Texas 71,109 [2] 3 Ohio State University[note 2] Columbus, Ohio 61,369 [3] 4 Florida International University Miami, Florida 58,928 [4] 5 University of Florida Gainesville, Florida 57,841 [5] 6 Georgia State University Atlanta, Georgia 53,737 [6] 7 Arizona State University[note 3] Tempe, Arizona 52,386 [7] 8 University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign 52,331 [8] 9 University of Minnesota Minneapolis-Saint Paul 52,017 [9] 10 University of Texas at Austin Austin, Texas 51,832 [10]
Wonder why the SEC didn't go after UCF, FIU, or GSU? And don't tell me it's because Texas has historically been better at football, because this isn't about wins/losses.

After the game they declared they were "back". Guess that was good enough to dupe the SEC leadership, lol.

I wanted Texas to join the ACC for all the reasons that have been discussed. However, it is a fact that Texas has blown up every conference they've been a member. Once they join the SEC, they'll start throwing their weight around and make demands on the other teams.

clearly the SEC is implying that it didn't mean enough in the BIG 12. When Texas moves to the SEC, it will mean more, so they will try harder.
