According to LSU message boards...

They're VERY afraid that they will lose Joe Brady to FSU. Honestly, I really don't see them hiring a 30 year old with zero head coaching experience. But with this Lincoln Riley-Sean McVay wave going on, who knows?

Hiring an unfamiliar young coach with no experience at the position? I like how that one turned out!

OK, you youngsters. Get ready for the bells, whistles, blaring horns, tooting tubas and bellowing boos because in 21 more days there will be 98 candles on my cake.

Very impressive ..98. I think I'm old until I do a little subtraction and see you were my current age of 62 in 1983. Hard to get a handle on that Joe. You've had a great life.
So many of my high school classmates have already passed I bet you must be the only one left from your high school class.....

Mr. Joe What Class were you in @ Clemson??

My Granddaddy Frank Mellette was Class of 36' and He wound up Writing a Book Titled "OLD CLEMSON COLLEGE IT WAS A HELLL OF A PLACE" (Published in 1981 & still Sold Today in Clemson). He had a Brother Ellis Mellette who was Class of 40' or 41'. Their Dad F.M. Mellette played Football and was Class of 1913. They have all gone now as they would all be 100+ years young. I used to love hearing my Granddaddy and Great Uncle's stories about the Old Days when Clemson was a Military School and the Freshman Rat experience. And thats what his book Chronicled, Clemson's first 60 years of existence.
I was just wondering if you had crossed paths with any of the Old Mellette Boys or happen to have read my Granddaddys Book?
I'm glad that you are doing well and 98 years young and Pray for good Health for you & many more Birthdays!!! P.S. My Son Will be 6 in 21 Days on November 25th ??
Go Tigers, Beat the Wolfpack & GOD Bless Clemson!!!!

Thats wonderful Moondog7! A year ago I was going through some old boxes of his stuff and found 3 fresh copies of the Book. Which isn't anything strange being that we still have a few unopened cases of them. But I decided to open them and the first 2 were autographed and the 3 had his Signature and a special note written many years ago to my father to take extra special care of my Grandmother, my Mother and us 3 Kids. Last Christmas I gave it to my Dad 20 years to the month after his death. Somehow my grandfather had written this and never given it to my Father. It was a very special gift for my dad and our whole family. I'm glad you have a Copy!

I was in the class of '63. but let me explain. I started at he Univ. of Florida before WW2, took time out for WW2, and returned to UF after the war and received my degree in 1949. Came to Clemson in 1955 and while working full time and going to school part time received my second degree in '63. My work required me to do a lot of traveling so my class attendance was spasmodic, sometimes missing two weeks at a time. Guys and gals, I would not recommend that path for anyone. It was a tough road.

We started that trend in 1978. Danny Ford was an OL position coach with no coordinator or head coach experience. He was 31 years old. Two years later he had our first National Championship under his belt at the age of 33. He's still the youngest head coach to win a NCAA football national championship. We got sidetracked for a while, but then hired Dabo and he is still writing.... the rest of the story.

If he is the offensive mind behind LSU's advancement into modern forward passing of the football - and it's true - "he gone"!
LOL! Seriously, he should be the guy b/c you know at least the offense will be stellar. And to let all the SEC coaches tell it - "it's easy to win in the ACC"! So he could (if he thinks that) come to an ACC school and start winning big things and get back in the NFL where he came from. The NFL is so starved for innovation they are hiring Air Raid coaches who are young and never coached in the NFL. FSU certainly would have to think long and hard about "not offering him if he is listening to offers"!

Who knows whether hes ready to be a HC and run a major CFB program, but if you are going to take a risk on someone, why not someone with sky high upside?

Once everyone has film on him. No way he deserves a HC shot after only 1 year.

I'm guessing that Alabama's subpar defense exposes LSU as a fraud this week. If that happens, FSU might not be interested.
