ACC needs to get UConn

Some will argue that this post belongs on the Basketball Bored but I guffaw. UConn is a very large school in a very wealthy highly populated State in a very lucrative region. Granted, their Football is not that great but everything else is. They get in the ACC and guarantee they will be very competitive in Football in a short period of time. They would be a great asset.

That’s what I was thinking. They can get UCONN to fill our spot. The sooner the better.

It was a master stroke of genius and the reason the ACC is now a 2nd rate football conference.

Seriously, it's better to remain silent sometimes. Are you listening to yourself???
In a country that celebrates the dumbest, loudest, and least informed voices over the smartest I can understand why you're belligerently posting your opinions on TNET. But, my friend by defending what all the smart people knew was a stupid decision by Swofford at the time just proves how ignorant you are about everything past, and present, and future. 😂

Honestly I would be less mad if they came out last year and said the ACC would like to welcome App State Uconn and someone of the likes of Marshal or ECU. Why because they keep geography and App state football is probably the best G5 brand in the east and Uconn basketball is amazing. This conference SMH

The Big East is going to absorb Duke and some of the other ACC basketball schools when the ACC inevitably implodes.

That's a bit of an understatement. It has been 12 years since they have had a winning season. The the last 3-4 season they have finished ranked 124th or worse. Thats not just "not that great" that is bloody awful.

Why don't we just add Furman and PC and maybe Wofford?

ESPN will not pay more for a basketball school so adding UConn would reduce revenue for each school by ~ $3M per year

UConn is not very large. It has an undergraduate population under 19,000 students, making it fairly small when compared to other state flagship institutions. They bring strong basketball (men's and women's) to the table. What else?

32,000 includes graduate students, many of which are not typically on campus. UConn, UMASS, Rhode Island, and Delaware are mid-sized public universities in the NE.

ACC really does not need to get UConn

Clemson revenues from men's and women's basket ball combined...$12.5 million. Clemson football revenue $68.5 million. The damage adding UCONN would do to all the football schools in the ACC would be horrific. Let the ACC become the SEC of basketball conferences after we are gone.

Again, UConn is in a very affluent region with lots of population ... they advertise Mercedes vs "Rauls Discount Auto and Lawn Services, we finance anybody". That's what drives value

As soon as the big football schools head to greener pastures, the ACC can add whoever they want. HQ should have Navy, Army, UConn, ECU, USF, and/or Coastal Carolina on speed dial.

We leave. UConn does not equal Texas or Oklahoma or USC or Oregon. ACC dug their own grave by not being focused on big time college fb teams over the last 3-5 years.

"ACC dug their own grave by not being focused on big time college fb in forever"
The ACC has never given the requisite attention for putting a compelling fb product on the field.

UConn brings NOTHING for FB money....and that's all that matters here. None. They would dilute the already paltry amount we receive. It has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt schools in city centers don't bring in extra $$$ if they aren't a large FB brand.

Indeed, it's a rare breed for a Metro based CFB program to pull in ratings. A handful at best - Ohio State, USC, Washington and that's about it. Many more examples of metro based 'dullwarts' than stalwarts.
