Not counting unrealized real estate gains, the Wilbur Financial Firm lost 11% in 2022 in total net worth.
Very basic calculation not accounting for any large expenditures (2 surgeries, other medical and 1 semester tuition at Winthrop).
THANKS JOE!

But I've cut my spending and made a lot more. 401k took a hit but I'm literally saving 40% of my income.

and new boxing/awning in some areas, new flooring, bathrooms, new washer/dryer and about $10k worth of tree work done, so I'm just staying afloat.

Then I lost about 75%.
I bought (another) house and put down about 50% of the purchase price.
I haven't looked at my 401K stash in a while.

Unexpectedly well … sold two residential properties beginning Q2 ‘22 …

At + 20% of value in Q4 ‘21. Simply took advantage of fortuitous timing and life changes. Caught the bubble so to speak.
Had already performed asset reallocation based on age / risk tolerance when retired in ‘20 so market impact’s cushioned but still down.
Presently taking cash proceeds and holdings and laddering CDs at 4.15 % to 4.75 % over 6 quarters with maturity dates starting Q4 ‘23 - meaning 12 to 18 month CDs. It’s a conservative, old school approach to managing cash in market uncertainty and higher interest rates. It provides additional cushion going into ‘23.
My qualifying and other equity market investments are longer term investments … horizon 5-7 year’s so short term volatility less impactful.

Cash/Investment net worth -10.7% (includes bank accounts, crypto, investments, retirement funds)
Total net worth -8.2% (above plus house and 529 plans)
Income went up and saved a ton of money this year, but overall worth still went down substantially as bulk of net worth is invested in market.
