Nope I think he’s gotten lazy and entitled and thought it was a machine he could just plug people in no matter their qualifications and keep rolling.
Also… everyone… even the pumpers have to admit… Dabo has never been an X’s and O’s guy. He’s a CEO type that manages and lets his coaches coach or at least… he used to be.
Honestly for that matter… how has Dabo looked since BV left? Tony and Jeff left? Marion Hobby and Dan Brooks left?
If anything… since those guys left… I question if Dabo knew anything about X’s and O’s to begin with the way we’ve looked since those guys were roaming the sidelines.

Exactly my thoughts, I've said the same thing. After the 2 Nattys, Dabo got to comfortable.....didn't really care which personnel he lost or brought in, by then he thought Clemson would run itself and keep bringing in top guys (To some aspect it has), but the failure to coach them guys up and keep that same drive and hunger before the Nattys is long gone. He also has an issue of owning up to mistakes and calling people out until its way overdue.

I always thought Dabo was a Player's coach, not an Xs and Os coach. He's always been the motivator and mouthpiece of the team, but he's only as good as his surrounding coaches.

Coaches paid 11 million a year should do what’s in the best interest of the school that’s paying them. In his case that’s not letting your stubbornness and resistance to the changes in college football keep you from adapting. The nepotism has to stop also. Even his daughter in law is on the payroll as his administrative assistant along with his son(s) and his brother. There are yes men everywhere around him.
I don’t want him to leave. He’s done great things for Clemson. He hasn’t forgot how to run a program but his stubborn nature is killing the incredible program we once had. None of us want to see it happen. It’s hard to watch.

Well sorta yes. You can get so tunnel "visioned" with your own success, that you make weak and poor decisions. So many prior athletes coaching at this level, with no experience, IS a problem. It's obvious!~!~

Coach Swinney and all other coaches ( football, basketball, baseball etc )
are in the spotlight particularly HCs. Couple that with Millions of dollars
being given annually to HCs and the standards they set mix that all
together with winning and losing provides fodder for all fans especially
in this modern age of information. Let the good times roll and the stories
be told, bottom line we all have different opinions and that is a good
"thang".

The Big Dog ... You make some valid points, and isn't watching a lot of video truly what makes someone a football coach. But on top of that, we can all absolutely agree Dabo has some 1st percentile communication, motivational and organizational coaching skill sets.
That said, the General does not send his battalions out to fight armed with daggers and swords. Without, the right weapons, his troops can't win. They could be massacred. And these Clemson teams are playing against better personnel recruited from both high schools and the college transfer portal; consequently, Clemson has regressed and is faring poorly. Dabo is/has been a great coach, but he's demonstrating on a weekly basis particularly vs. ranked teams that he is unable to compete with inferior Clemson troops and inexperienced coaches.
The end result is quality players are losing interest in Clemson. Quality players want to win. And they want to play where they can win, develop and play in the NFL. Clemson can settle for mediocrity. But that's not our modus operandi.

Because the team is so broken right now that even someone who doesn't know X's and O's realizes it. Dabo's philosophy on portal usage is bitting him in the ### because it's not "Clemson is better top to bottom" anymore. The rosters are leveled out and it's really putting a microscope on Dabo's coaching ability.

2) On defense, tackle the man with the ball so that he doesn't achieve Goal 1.

Fairly easy for coaches,non coaches, former players, and people who have never played a down to see the decline in the product on the field in the last 5 years.
The increase in the number of coaches and support staff. The increase of friends,family, and first time coaches.

I have a better career record and have won 4 times the titles that Dabo has…….on EA Sports College Football…. on the second hardest difficulty setting, with wear and tear turned off .
Not saying this makes me a better coach than Dabo but we are definitely in the same peer group!!!!

i see both sides of this argument. because both sides are right.
if the fans are, in fact, the entertainment customers who pay to watch, they have a right to voice what they want to see.
if the fans are trying to offer constructive criticism from their collective observations- input from all places can be useful
if the fans are here to tear down and flame- it serves no purpose and i doubt your job performance in your position particular occupation could meet the expectations you have of others.
the offense is stale, everything takes too long, run game isn’t using the talent available, the defense looks passive on front and back, and swinney has been condescending when questioned.
that said, he is a great coach and we have a program to be envied.

I give credit to Dabo for his accomplishments and I am proud to have him as our coach with his ability to build character in young men. Having said that - football is not a complicated game.
Basic honest fans, especially those that have played and watched many years, understand what is happening and why strategies are set against opposition.
You can see the difference of being outmanned or outplayed or self destructive or lazy or too amped and over running or mental mistakes etc regardless of win or loss. We have not played consistently good football for a while from a game to game aspect and in some cases series to series. I think it is culmination of many different reasons but one can see it when we play.
The complaint is justified when Dabo himself has gotten away from what made him a two time winner in NCGs. Recognizing that does not mean we claim to know more than Dabo but what we know is still true. We have gotten away from what made us elite. We can see it.

we get a few of these posts every year.... you don't have to be a million dollar coach or even a coach at all to spot deficiencies in play in many, many sports. Post like this make NO SENSE. This is a board, or if it be a radio show or other, there are people everywhere and all over who aren't coaches who see a lot of stuff and comment on it. Not sure what you're point is.
