Martavis Bryant gets $1.2 million more in salary

Sometimes it literally pays to do your job well.

Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Martavis Bryant received an increase in salary from $705,000 to $1,907,000 due to performance-based pay from the NFL.

Since Bryant played in 35% of his team's snaps in two of his first three years, he was able to receive the bonus. It is available for fourth-year players on their rookie contracts that were drafted after round two.

In 2017, Bryant had 50 catches for 603 yards and three touchdowns. Despite two suspensions from the NFL, he's totaled 126 catches for 1,917 yards and 17 touchdowns during his pro career. He will be an unrestricted free agent after the 2018 season.

Bryant was a fourth-round draft pick (#118th overall) out of Clemson in 2014.

Steelers WR Martavis Bryant's salary now reflects in NFLPA records that he has earned the Proven Performance Escalator (available in contracts of all rookies drafted after round 2), bumping his pay from $705,000 to $1,907,000. This eats an addition $1.202 million in cap space.
