by - Assoc. Editor -

The Cincinnati Bengals have placed former Clemson defensive tackle Brandon Thompson on the team's reserve/PUP list according to multiple reports.

Thompson will miss the the first six weeks of the regular season after being placed on the physically unable to perform list and will be eligible to return to play on Oct. 23 against the Cleveland Browns.

He had a season-ending ACL tear and was placed on injured reserve in week 17 last season and missed the entire Bengals' training camp.

In 2015, he played in nine games and had eight tackles and a half of a sack. In three seasons in the NFL (30 career games, seven starts), he had 71 tackles and three sacks.

Thompson was a third-round draft pick (#93 overall pick) by the Bengals back in 2012
