Clemson OL to transfer |
TigerNet has learned that Clemson offensive tackle
Jake Fruhmorgen will transfer.
Fruhmorgen met with the Clemson coaches Thursday and told them of his decision. The 6-5, 290-pounder had seven knockdowns in 245 snaps over 11 games (one start) as a true freshman in 2015 and took over as the starting right tackle last spring. Fruhmorgen started the first eight games of the season but suffered a shoulder injury that kept him out after the Florida St. game. A few weeks later, head coach Dabo Swinney said Fruhmorgen had left the team to deal with personal issues. Swinney went into the playoffs saying he was hopeful Fruhmorgen would be with the team next spring. There's no word yet on where Fruhmorgen will wind up, but early possibilities seem to be Florida or Michigan. Before Clemson, he played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl; played offensive tackle in high school, but played center and offensive guard in the game. He was the No. 73 player and No. 16 offensive tackle in the nation by 247Sports.com (23rd-best signee entering the ACC), the No. 89 player and No. 8 offensive tackle in the nation and No. 18 player in Florida by Rivals.com, the No 93 player and No. 7 offensive tackle in the nation and No. 18 player in Florida by ESPN. He led his team to an 11-2-1 record as a junior.
