Brent Venables thanks Dabo Swinney, Clemson players when introduced as OU coach

Brent Venables is a head coach for the first time after one of the more successful runs as an assistant/coordinator in college football history.

Venables was formally introduced as Oklahoma's head coach on Monday and took the opportunity to thank a number of people, including Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney.

"Y’all know we’ve had incredible success there. The secret sauce there is the people," said Venables. "Like any great family and any great organization, it’s the people. I’ve grown more in these last 10 years holistically as a man, as a father, as a person, as a coach, as a believer than I have the rest of my life. I’m just incredibly indebted to their family there. And I wouldn’t be standing here today if it wasn’t for his (Swinney's) belief in me. And his lovely wife Kathleen and his children are like family."

Venables then thanked the players he was able to coach with the Tigers.

"My players at Clemson, y’all know and the former players that are here - the only reason that I’m standing up here is because of your work, your passion, your love, your commitment and I’m just grateful for those relationships. And although I’m in Oklahoma, family is family," he said.
