McKissic Ready for Great Career at Clemson |
Jacquez McKissic Defensive end Opelika High School (Opelika, Ala.) 6'7", 280 lbs. Like most high school football players, Jacquez McKissic felt the pressure of having to choose which college he was going to continue his career. With schools such as Clemson, N.C. State, Auburn, Mississippi State, Auburn, Louisville, Iowa, Illinois, and Southern Miss all offering scholarships, McKissic knew it would be difficult to choose which place was best for him. But unlike most players, McKissic didn't use National Signing Day to make his decision. Finally feeling that he knew where he was meant to go, McKissic announced last week that he had chosen Clemson. "It just felt like the right place for me, and I just have a feeling that I am going to have a great career at Clemson," McKissic said. "I like the campus, and when I went to visit in early January, I really felt like one of the guys." McKissic had a stellar senior year at Opelika, making the all-state team with 51 tackles and ten assists. He feels like he can make an immeadiate impact at Clemson, but realizes he will have to prove himself first. "One of the big factors in me choosing Clemson was playing time," McKissic said. "There is only a slight chance that I could start, but the coaches have told me that if I come in and work hard, I could see a lot of playing time." McKissic, who was a teammate with fellow Clemson recruit Adrian Kinard at Opelika, has yet to qualify academically, but says it's a problem that will be taken care of. "This semester, I have to make two Bs and one A to qualify, and I will most definitely do it." 2004 Signees #1 OL Taylor Tremel (6-4, 260, 5.0) Lake Mary, FL
