by - Assoc. Editor -

Clemson redshirt-sophomore defensive back Mackensie Alexander will not return to the field for the Syracuse game according to Clemson officials.

He was seen on the training table with his knee or upper leg wrapped in ice. Adrian Backer has taken his place at cornerback.

Alexander has 19 tackles and four pass breakups on the season before the Syracuse game and is a current Jim Thorpe Award Semifinalist.

TigerNet.com will update his injury condition once we get more information.

Update: Swinney said after the game that Alexander's injury is not serious.
