Clemson fan base ranked #1 most deserving of a National Championship

The Clemson football team (9-0, 6-0 ACC) was ranked the #1 overall seed in the College Football Top 25 rankings released by the College Football Playoff committee on Tuesday night on ESPN.

Yardbarker.com released their rankings of the most deserving fan bases that deserve a national championship this season.

The criteria for the rankings were the last time the team won a championship, the recent struggles they’ve had to endure, the passion they display on a weekly basis, etc.

"Why they’re ranked here: You’ve heard of “Clemsoning,” right? As much as Dabo Swinney has rightfully tried to get rid of that term in recent seasons, Clemsoning (losing games you shouldn’t, crushing your fans hopes in heartbreaking fashion) is something that happened far too often over the last 10 years," Yardbarker stated. "This fan base deserves to win something that will get rid of that term forever. That something is a national championship – no fan base deserves it more."

The website has some positive things to say about the Clemson football program.

"It’s been far too long since the Tigers won one, too," Yardbarker said. "Clemson is one of the country’s premier programs – it’s got an awesome stadium, great uniforms, really solid history and has produced a ton of great talent. A 30-plus year stretch without a national championship is way too long for this fan base, which year in and year out puts the Tigers in the top 15 nationally in attendance."

The full list of deserving fanbases according to the website include Clemson (#1), Baylor (#2), Oklahoma State (#3), Oklahoma (#4), Michigan State (#5), Iowa (#6), Notre Dame (#7), Ohio State (#8), LSU (#9) and Alabama (#10).
