Clemson coordinator nominated for Broyles Award |
Clemson will go for a 3-peat for the nation's top assistant award with a third different coordinator this season.
Tigers co-offensive coordinator Jeff Scott has been nominated for the Broyles Award, which has gone to Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables (2016) and fellow co-coordinator Tony Elliott (2017) in recent seasons. Clemson ranks in the top-10 in scoring (4th; 47.8 PPG) and total offense (7th; 538 YPG) behind the success of an improved rushing game (7th in rushing offense, 265.3 YPG) and a standout freshman QB in Trevor Lawrence leading the passing attack (29th; 272.7 YPG). The Tigers also rank in the top-10 nationally in red zone touchdown percentage (8th; 77.8). Scott came onto the staff as a full-time assistant when Clemson coach Dabo Swinney was promoted to head coach in 2008. He served as Clemson's recruiting coordinator in addition to receiver coach duties up until 2014, when he took over co-offensive coordinator duties.
