Former Clemson baseball signee Cal Raleigh has committed to Florida State on Saturday over Virginia and Western Carolina.

The high-level catcher prospect had committed to the Tigers but asked for his release back in early June after hall-of-fame baseball coach Jack Leggett was fired.

"I had a great visit (earlier this week to Tallahassee, Fla.) and loved everything about the campus," Raleigh told the Citizen-Times.

He also thought there was a chance for him to play early for the Seminoles.

"The coaching staff is great and they play a style of baseball that I like. Plus, they have a catcher who just got drafted (Danny Le La Calle in the ninth round), so there is a chance to go in there and play early."

In 2014, Raleigh batted .459 with 10 home runs, 23 RBIs, 20 stolen bases for the WNCAC champions.

During his sophomore year, Raleigh was an All-Western NC Athletic Conference catcher/pitcher that batted .374 with 23 RBI, 8 doubles and 2 home runs. Raleigh also had offers from various ACC, SEC and Conference USA schools.

He was also the leading scorer and an All-WNCAC forward for high school basketball team with 16.4 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.

His father, Todd, compiled a 365-322 record as the head coach at Western Carolina (2000-2007) and Tennessee (2008 to 2011).
