David Slevin (Port Saint Lucie, FL) signed a free agent contract with the New York Yankees last week. Slevin will first report to mini-camp in Tampa, FL before joining the Staten Island Yankees of the New York Penn League. Slevin, who will join former Tiger teammate Kyle Frank on the team, had a 22-game hitting streak in 2003, tied for the fifth-longest in Clemson history. Also in 2003, the Second-Team All-ACC second baseman hit .330 with five homers, 10 doubles, and 30 RBIs. He finished third in the ACC in batting average in ACC regular-season games with a .392 batting average as well. In 115 career games at Clemson over two seasons, he committed just 19 errors, good for a .967 fielding percentage. He also was a career .306 hitter as a two-year starter in Tigertown.
